thank you isv.
sportauto says clearly that on the GT2RS was NOT the regular N2 Cup2. It was the/a new compound - where Porsche was not saying the name...
sportauto will see the difference with their supertest.

I
Don't have a problem with it (in fact it's a good thing!) if it's a new tire that will be available to all owners, and they are being upfront about it, not pretending it's a regular cup 2.

Hm, it's a bit of a slippery slope using a development tyre that isn't actually available yet to record a laptime though that gets a large amount of headline press and just have the bit about the tyres somewhere in the article. It also somewhat makes one wonder whether the development tyre used in the official ring lap as well.
P.S and I still think something is a bit different with hockenheim now vs a few years ago. The performante which funnily enough weighed 40kg more than the standard Huracan recorded a lap 2 seconds quicker on what is nominally the same trofeo tyre (exact sizes). I accept that this ALA lark plus firmer suspension and a few other tweaks has some effect but that is a massive difference on such a short track and I can't believe the chassis changes between the cars are themselves capable of that kind of difference.
