Paul Solk's race car is in the building! We're crafting a full 2.5", lightweight yet durable system designed to be "maximum attack, at home on the track" but also for the few who want it as loud as possible on the street. This system will be modular with either resonated or straight pipe configurations. You'll be able to run with or without exhaust tips in the interest of weight savings.
Alright, we are officially LIVE on our website with the 987.1/987.2/981 Race Systems. Here is a breakdown of the systems in general, as well as photos of various configurations and components of the tips. The center support brackets differ from generation and transmission, as do the tip outlet pipe lengths. Please visit the individual product pages on our site for all the relevant photos for each generation of car and transmission type. Thank you for your patience and support during this project, and please feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email with any inquiries.
DEVELOPMENT: Our goal was to create lightweight, robust, cost-effective exhaust components for Boxster / Caymans that are readily available, perform well, and are built to last. Through feedback and long R&D conversations with various shops, technicians, and drivers that have done their own independent testing over the years (a special thank you to Bryan Schute at Speed Sport Tuning and the team at LN Engineering / BRS) we came up with a game plan for a track bred system.
PIPING: Over axle pipe profiles are full 2.5” piping diameter and were designed to leave sufficient clearance for the axles and sway bar end links on heavily modified / lowered vehicles. The rear section is available in either a 3″ straight pipe or resonated section depending on preference of overall sound level and cabin presence. The rear section is cut to the length of where an exhaust tip would sit, saving the weight of the tip assemblies – around 2 lbs. Custom tips are available by request at additional cost.
BESPOKE BRACKETS: Hangers and brackets welded directly to the exhaust have a tendency to break under racing use – a quick way to ruin a track day. SOUL’s mounting solution sheds over 5 lbs compared to the factory mounts and our components are easy to repair or replace in the event of a track incident. The forward piping is connected to a bespoke SOUL trans mounting brace via heavy duty Mikalor band clamps. We’ve added additional support to the over axle piping through rubber vibration dampeners to reduce the stress of flex and vibrations on the entire exhaust system.
CONSTRUCTION: Each system is made in-house by our fabrication team from mandrel bent .065″ wall, 2.5″ diameter T304L stainless steel tubing. Brackets are laser cut, press brake bent, then TIG welded for maximum durability. All welds are back purged for increased longevity under the most extreme conditions.
SOUND: This racing system was designed primarily for track use over sound attenuation – it will be LOUD, and even with resonators drone will be present. We do not expect this system to be comfortable for street use under 3k rpm, nor was it made to be that way. For those wanting more of a middle ground, we have several other options available for each generation of car.
BOLT ON AND GO: Each exhaust is rigorously quality-checked, tested in a fixture to ensure perfect fitment, and then foam packed to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. New high grade hardware is included for the header to exhaust flanges. Thorough installation instructions are included in the box for a straightforward install that can be performed by most DIY enthusiasts.
LIFETIME WARRANTY: Enjoy your SOUL exhaust components with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any issues or answer any questions that you may have.

Are there any videos of a 987.2 (preferably a Spyder but I know that narrows it down a lot) with a stock exhaust and the soul competition headers? I may be picking up a set of the headers on the used market but am curious as to what it will sound like (any drone?)

That's funny, I'm looking for the exact same thing. I am thinking about adding Soul street headers to my Spyder's PSE....
Will try 1st audio take Saturday and hit this thread. ‘10S BS w/ Soul Street with 200 c cats and FD modified oem muffs. Have never even turned on the radio until my garage stereo expired in the midst of spring prep and needed tunes to finish...better than silence but poor substitute for run through the gears top down, sun shining, birds chirping, spring greening.....oh wait. Quarantine?:-(

Hey Guys,
Here is a video running competition headers on my Cayman R equipped with PSE. Putting our headers on a 987.2 or 981 equipped with PSE is still one of the best setups I've experienced to date for a primarily street driven car and those that want to maintain little to no cabin presence at cruising speeds. The only setup I've enjoyed more is running our full competition package with our competition headers and valved exhaust system. If you are putting our headers on your car, be sure to couple them with our ECU tune as the results of doing both are quite transformational to the powercurve and throttle response. If you go catless, you'll also benefit from shutting off the CEL associated with catless headers.
Sorry if this was mentioned previously on this thread as it is a bit long I didn’t find it. Is there any sound clips and dyno numbers for a 2.9 base with stock headers and SOUL valved exhaust? Thank you

No problem and its a good question. That said, we haven't had any 2.9L cars in for installation of that system to get any footage, nor have we received any marketing footage back from those that have installed it. Now I have driven plenty of 2.9L cars on and off the track over the years, and to me the sound of the 2.9L is not that far off from the 3.4L, maybe just a smidge deeper. It's the same engine design, so .5L shouldn't make a transformational difference in sound potential. A video of our valved exhaust on an S model would be pretty close to what you should expect, such as that below. As for power, don't expect any catback system to light your pants on fire as rear exhausts on 987.2 and 981 make about 5-10hp and aren't something you'll feel big gains from. If you want a noticeable performance improvement, headers and a tune should be on your to do list as that will pick up a solid 25-30hp.
