What's a fair price for this 987.2S

Clearbook is sometimes a little light on really nice condition late model Porsches, but based on real transaction data.
They put it at $40-44K in excellent condition.
But 'condition' on Porsches is really subjective... To me, "excellent" on a Porsche is showroom minty, regardless of age. Far above what is considered excellent on your typical used car, and most don't meet the standard. Always worth a premium of a tiny stone chip or two or a very slight wrinkle on the leather is all that separates a used example from showroom condition.

For whatever reason, prices climbing, latest Excellence market value publication has this one topping out at $50k if in perfect shape. Deduct for number of owners, miles, and lack of options.

If I was in the position financially I would get on a plane and drive that baby right back to New York. Just like I did with the 997.1 RS I bought from Seattle. Don't let a few miles between you and the right car be a deal killer.

They are asking $43K for it which is a pretty fair mark up for this car.
FYI, they are asking $42,500 for it on a wholesalers only site so you might have some room to negotiate.
Good luck!

My guess is there were maybe 5,000 987.2 CSes sold which means you are going to have to get lucky to find what you want locally or be willing to travel.
Is a fly-n-drive out of the question? Great way to get to see and drive your car before buying and a better way to get to know your car on the short drive home. I say short as I bought my Cayman in Chicago and live in Phoenix.
Here's the build sheet if you have not seen it.

With the car sitting unsold for 7 months, I'd be damned if I'd pay anywhere hear their asking price, but that's just me.
Good luck,
Eddie

If you'd consider a 6MT, I came across this CPO 2012 Cayman S while shopping for my Cayman R. I haven't seen it in person but it looks pretty decent on paper. Bucket seats too.

I stopped by while in LA for Thanksgiving and it appears to be perfect. I was only stopping by to check the comfort of the LWBs which were a dream to sit in for 5mins but no idea how they would be for a 1-2 hour drive. If that car was silver or red then I probably would have found out as I drove it all the way back to NC. It's a great car and I think it's priced better than expected since its a 2012 with LWBs at a Porsche dealer. I just don't want another black one since my 993 is black.

i picked up a high milage car, for a substantial discount from 45-50k.
these cars are made to be driven, if you can find a high milage car, and it has been well serviced, dont be afraid of it.
mine has 80k miles. alot for a 2010. After a PPI, the porsche dealer could recommend NO service items.
the only downside was that it will need new summer tires in April.
but the discount was large, so i can by a couple of sets of tires. and brake pads. and short shifter kit. and what ever else i want.
so you can take advantage of others preference for low miles cars. My first porsche, a 1972 S needed an engine rebuild at 100,000 mi. there was an article in Pano a few months ago about a 2002 996 turbo that passed 250k mi easily. these cars are built to last.
an example from another venue. in 2002 i lost my Rolex surfing off Scripps Pier in La Jolla. The insurance company said i was covered for full replacement value so i should go get a new one. Walking around La Jolla, i saw a store selling "used Rolexes" so i stopped in and learned a good lesson. a Rolex is built to last, with regular servicing, for 100 years. so if you can find a 6 month old Rolex at a 35% discount, you got a deal. i did, and 13 years later, i still wear it. and i have willed it to my grandson who will wear it to the next century.
and dont be afraid of a professional transport. i had mine shipped in a few days and it arrived perfect. my dealer arranged it easily.
