Default Ventilated seats

Anyone with experience from the 981 ventilated Sport Seat Plus (2-way)? Someone said manufacturers can take out seat foam to make room for the fans. This could make the seats a little less comfortable. The brand in question was not Porsche so I thought I'd ask here.

I have them in my 18 way and we also have them in a Lexus. I would be surprised if the fans are actually in the seats.

Did you go out and check?

Have you sat in a non-ventilated 18 way and compared them comfort-wise?

I have non-ventilated 2 way sport seats in my Carrera and ventilated 14 ways in my Cayman. Both are equally comfortable, though the shapes of the 14 ways and the sport seats are obviously different.

I was looking at the Lexus forum and in the IS250 apparently they pull cooled cabin air from the floorboards with 2 fans in each front seat and force it thru the seat perforations. Not sure how Porsche does it but I imagine the same. In DFW summer I used the ventilated seats often. They seem to work well. I test drove a couple other Caymans while I was shopping. Don't recall what seats were in them. I found the car I wanted pretty quickly so I did not drive a lot of them.

For the Porsche seat ventilation, air is drawn away from the body. You can test this easily with a tissue paper placed on the seat to verify which way the air is flowing.

Correct. It does give the impression of air flowing out to your back, though.
