So I have a 2012 Cayman R that came with the CDR-30 radio. You can buy the PCM 3.0 head units on eBay such as the one I have linked below. Something tells me there's a lot more involved than just yanking out the old unit and slapping in the new. Has anyone done this successfully, and how involved is the process? I'm sure there's a dealer re-program in there somewhere. I've read that you must have Bose speakers for the PCM to work. I assume the CDR-30 doesn't come with the Bose speakers; let me know if you know.
Thanks for the info!

This is a little different then the OP but here goes.
I have a 2013 Boxster with the Bose system and have bought a Nav unit for the car from eBay.
I've had the car to the dealership to have it installed and they said they have to get codes to allow it to function in the car.
They contacted Porsche who then asked me to provide proof of purchase as I had bought it on Ebay.
We are still waiting for the codes and the car is back home.
The dealer doesn't know why it is taking so long.
Has anybody else attempted this upgrade>

i've seen in some other old threads that retrofit Bose unit with GPS into the car with basic CRD30 costs crazy money.
anywhere between 5,000$ to 7,500$.
