Default Parade preparation

This is more of an "off topic" series of questions but since it involves my Spyder I thought it best to post here

Several questions for those of you in Calif.

First are there any restrictions as in reduced speed limit on highways for towing. I will be towing a small low enclosed alum (the size you might take four tires to the track in) trailer behind my Spyder.

Does Calif require private small trailers to enter weigh stations for inspection

Radar detectors in Calif. any restrictions on where they are mounted? and are they allowed?

Look forward to seeing everyone at Parade. I get in early Thursday to help with registration preparation

Unless things have changed:

Cars towing a trailer are limited to 55 MPH…every time I drive out to California with the trailer after going through 3 states with a 75 MPH speed limit it is very hard to slow down.

In the United States, radar jammers are illegal under federal law. The following states have laws in place against the use or ownership of a laser jammer:
California
Colorado
Illinois
Minnesota
Nebraska
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Virginia
Washington D.C.

Windshield Mounting Laws.
It's perfectly legal to own and operate a radar detector in the states of California and Minnesota, but if you have one mounted to your windshield you will be ticketed! Try and clip it to your sun visor instead.

Got stopped towing my C4S thru Cali on the way to my new duty station in WA for going about 65mph. So yes 55 mph and the right lane only with the trucks on the highway is the rule I was told. Also told by the officer that hey wanted to take a look at my car...since he loves all Porsches. No ticket..just a warning.

Take care f4plt. Miss seeing you in SA at Harris Hill and Porsche of SA if that is you.

We plan on getting there around noon on Thursday 12 June as there is lots to do to get ready for registration on Sunday. Bringing the Spyder not the GT3 as my wife can drive the Spyder. Looking forward to a great week seeing lots of Rennlist friends .

Just follow the posted signs here in California and you'll be OK!

By the way, don't tell them at the California Border Protection Stations (our first line of defense in protecting our environment & resources from invasive species) that you are bringing a Spyder in your trailer. They are real arachnophobes!

PS Make sure you stock up on our state's official 'breakfast' cereal too! You can never have enough of our delicious 'Fruit, Flakes & Nuts'. And in California, we are a living testament to that 'combo' as a way of life!

The Good News: No, they are using drones ONLY for Surveillance and Target Acquisition! The Bad News: They are using air-to-surface 'Hellfires' for enforcement!

What are you driving now? Drove a base Boxster at Porsche of SA before I left. Wonderful car...so tempted to take it with me on the drive from SA to WA back in summer 2012. But passed. Bout to trade 'Up" from my 997.2 to a 2014 Cayman in a few weeks. Have you driven any? Imagine you've sampled most Porsche has to offer by now. Cheers. Rob
