Default installing front license plate

Hi everyone,

I recently got a 2005 Boxster S and it has no front licence plate holder. I really would hate to drill the front bumper but I'm in New York state and as far as I'm aware of, if I don't install the front license plate, I'll get a ticket.

Any suggestions from forum members on what to do?

google for rennline license plate holder. It attaches to your front tow-hook. Nothing to drill and removable.

Thanks for that suggestion. Will certainly consider it but I find it pricey for what it is and the asymmetric placement really bothers me aesthetically.

I prefer the asymmetric look, myself. Gets it out of the way instead of front and center. I got the US Mill Works holder.

I found this website with a bunch of suggestions for those following this thread:

http://www.licenseplatebracketcentra...bracket-front/

I think I'm currently leaning towards this one:

http://skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.shtml

reasonable in price (although I still think a bit expensive) and will at least not show the damage to the bumper.

I'm sorry to say this but this front plate law is really stupid and backwards.

Depending on where you are in NY it might not matter, I've gone with one on two cars for 20 years no issue. Put it in the front trunk and wait till someone says something about it, you can always mount it later and explain to the judge that it didn't come equipped for a front plate, chances are the first time will be no biggie if it happens at all.

+1 on the US Mill Works bracket, it's very adjustable so you can get the plate aligned exactly as you like.

Default My front bumper wasn't drilled either..

and I didn't see any reason to start when I got my RS60, so I got this bracket:

I've been happy with how solid it is, very adjustable.

Cheers!

Lots of choices I found the GMG bracket with the offset worked best for me. http://www.gominigo.com. Happy hunting.

I bought the one made by Rolf, but never used it or even opened the package, because on closer inspection, my 987 already had the bumper drilled! Let me know if you want it, and we can work something out.

I saw a cool bracket from Porsche. However, I still run sans front plate.

I have the Skenedesign and I'm very happy with it. I wanted a minimalist installation with the smallest, sleekest footprint possible. Here are some pics for your reference: http://www.planet-9.com/members/sixp...n-bracket.html
