3.8 conversion for Boxster
I know this was touched upon by Lee from Providence in another thread (wheel options for 981s ) but I was wondering if anyone else has done this swap, if there are any qualified shops in the New England area to do it and if it can be done with a 987 base Boxster. Can you put a 997 S engine in a base 987 and can you still get a new 997S engine?

Suncoast has a remanufactured 996gt3 engine on sale; wouldn't that be something in a Boxster...

BGB motorsports in Florida has a lot of experience in swapping the 3.8 DFI engines into Caymans and Boxsters. If you're really interested in doing this that might be a good first place to call. Getting a GT3 motor in would probably be quite a bit more work. I understand the swap to the 3.8 DFI is pretty straightforward.
If I were you, I would call Jake Raby at Flat 6 Innovations. He is located in Georgia, but his experience would be enough to engage him wihout worries.

I can't say enough good things about John Tecce and BGB. They've been a pleasure to work with on this project. But I will post a full thread with pics, driving impressions, etc probably next week or the week after.
Here's one quick pic of the completed car when it was at BGB awaiting transport. But honestly I went for the sleeper look thus far, not really anything visual that will tell you this is not a stock Boxster except for one or two small visual things (yellow powder coated 991 calipers, Fabspeed exhaust tips).
Car is arriving next week, custom powder-coating I requested took a little longer than anticipated and then car had to be transported up from FL.
