What's a good exhaust for 987.1 Boxster?
I just got a 2008 Boxster, what exhaust have you bought? Agency Power, Fabspeed, Supersprint, ect.... How was the fitment? How does it compare to OEM at idle, cruising, accelerating....?? Where did you purchase it from? How much was it?
Would like to hear people's prespectives. I'd like a louder and deeper tone throught the rev range.

Maxspeed catless headers and awe exhaust on my CS. Love it but its loud and not for the faint of heart.

Had a Fabspeed on our 987.1 and liked it. Not too loud, but loud enough and pleasing sound when accellerating. Only downside was a drone at about 3K rpm, and with the top up it was loud inside the cabin. Easy solution was to keep the revs up.

Fabspeed race is a great exhaust with a glorious sound. However, it does drone loudly from approx. 2,200-2,900 RPM. Not for everyone as some love 'em (I and others) while some find the drone deafening. "YMMV".

Buy the PSE. Not cheap. Great sound, great F&F, warranty, no drone, no CEL's, and an On & Off switch.
Should have bought this:

PSE is way too expensive. But the Fabspeed is on my list. wonder how much louder the race version is compared to their maxflo or whatever they call it. Borla makes a race version too that looks interesting. Where did you all buy your exhausts from?? Buy direct from the manufacture such as Fabspeed or did you find a better deal buying through somewhere else?

We have a sound valve exhaust for the 987.1 - best of both worlds. Tasteful sport sound when closed (just a little louder than stock) or loud and exotic when open. Great choice for the 987.1
We also have a standard sport muffler for the 987.1 without the valves.
Here's a link to the 987.1 web page: http://www.speedtechexhausts.com/page13.html
PM for special Rennlist member pricing.

Would like to hear people's prespectives. I'd like a louder and deeper tone throught the rev range.
I just had the Borla exhaust intalled today;
-The local custom shop charged me $300 to install it. Normally, it'd only cost $250, but they told me that per the included installation instructions, it requires 2 people for proper alignment and fitment, so they had to pull a guy from a window tint job to help out. Therefore, it took a little longer than the 2 and a half hour estimate. Total install time was 3 hours and 5 minutes, I waited.
- Compared to OEM, it's night and day. This thing is a beast. My car now has a deep burbly growl at idle and you can feel the car moving slightly with the revs, almost feels like there's a bigger engine in the car.
- At cruising, it sounds like stock until you accelerate, then all hell breaks loose. If you're near the 2200-2500 rev band when you accelerate, you get an annoying drone that goes away after about 2600-2700 rpms, then it's pure nirvana all the way up until redline. The sound is orgasmic, very exotic-like and intoxicating. There's also an occasional mild symphonic burp and pop on deceleration.
- As far as the drone, I think with more wheel time, I'll learn to shift around it. But In my situation, It's not a cause for great concern.
- I bought it from Autoplicity.com,
Name Price Quantity Total
Borla Cat-Back System
SKU: BOR-12653 $1,369.80 1 $1,369.80
Sub-Total $1,369.80
Shipping $19.74
Order Total $1,389.54
-12653 is the 4" tip option and 12654 is the 3.5" option. I know, it seems backwards but it's not. Glad I got the 4" tips, they looks bad-a**!
In summation, If this were my DD, I would stick with OEM due to the lower rev range drone, especially if I had to drive in slow traffic every day, rowing my own gears. But, for me, this is a weekend car, and I want it to be a special event everytime I pull the cover off of it, turn the key and get on it. Everyone's situation is unique and you have to decide what you want out of YOUR car for YOUR SPECIFIC application. I look at it like a concubine I sneak around with on the weekends, hot wild and crazy. I build up the expectation of being with her all week long, then have the wild affair. Afterwards, I slip back into my seemingly ordinary life, all the while, thinking about next weekend.

Put Fabspeed Maxflow on mine about 6 months ago. My brother and I did it in about 2 hours and it was really a breeze. Fitment was perfect and quality is top notch. Now about the sound. Nice deep burble at idle that it didn't have with stock exhaust. I don't really notice a drone but I don't drive my car on long highway rides or anything. To me, it's quiet enough in the cabin but when you stomp on it, it definitely turns heads. Sounds like a true exotic now and not an entry level Porsche. Highly recommend.

The Supersprint is a great system. OEM like fitment and beautiful sound!
Here's the 'Race' version (which is the one you really want, as the Sport is built for German TUV restrictions - Supersprint is huge in Germany!)
PM me for details if you would like to know more
