For anyone using 18" R888's on a cayman, 18x 8 &9, what sizes work best?

When I ran R 888, they were 240/40 x 18 and 275/35 x 18 on factory wheels. Switched to MPSC and now run BFG R1 in same size as the R 888. Forget the R 888 assuming you're trailering the car.

Bill, I really want to run Hancook Z214's, same as the 993. They're cheap, and sticky for a lot of heat cycles, and not going to be available until summer at the earliest, apparently.

So I'm stuck needing an alternative for the spring, waiting for tire rack to get a new batch of "crack". Hoosiers seem stupid for DE, and sport cups are ridiculously expensive. I don't think Khumo's had good sizes. Do you suggest bfg's?

By the way, do you stagger front and rear air pressures in the 987? The 993 calls for "square" pressures, even front and back.

Can't help with the Toyos, but for an alternative, I've run 18" Nitto NT-01 in 245/275 (40) on stock wheels for several years and been very pleased: good dry grip, good wear, predictable, and relatively inexpensive ($1,080/set), but not much in the wet. Very popular DE tire for the Cayman.

Love the Nitto's. I used to run Toyos as an alternative on my full6 prepped 911SC and found them very noisy and so-so grip wise compared to Nitto and of course R6. Toyo wet performance is better than Nitto though. Just my 5 cents

Marc, I ran R888 34-35 F and 36-37 R hot. I was running more rear bar then most. I've been running BFG R1 at 35-36 Hot all around. I'm about ready for my third set of these tires. They seem to be sticky for about 30 HC and wear very well.

Hey Bill did you happen to compare lap times with the two and how was the HC life on the R888's?
Thanks

I had a 2.7 Cayman when running R888, now have a 3.4 so lap times are not comparable. I didn't track HC with the 2.7.
