Default Installed spacers

I purchased spacers from Suncoast - a bit more aggressive looking

7mm in F, 15mm in back.

Looks good!

So how are you enjoying it? You've had it for a week or two now right?

Yeah - I've put about 200 mi. since purchase - crappy weather is keeping me from driving it - except for today

First impression: catches a lot of looks. I get the question "Is that a Porsche?" Uh - yes, theres the huge billboard on the side of the car that says it is. Or I respond "Don't know... just stole it..."

Very quiet car for a Porsche. Needs some umph on the sound.

As for driving? Love it, rides on rails - awesome power.

Worse part? I keep wanting to add to it... which equals mo' $$$.

My understanding is that Porsche did not allowed anyone ordering from factory the 'Spyder' wheels on their cars to add any spacers on their order. The spacers could be ordered on the other optional wheels, but not on the 'Spyder' wheels shown on the OP's car. They felt that the 'Spyder' wheels had exactly the right 'off-set', etc and anything else would be counter-productive. I asked and they simply told me 'No Can Do'. Does anyone know the specific technical reasoning & concerns behind this particular 'spacer' prohibition by the factory on these 'Spyder' wheels on a Boxster Spyder?

Saludos, z356

I would bet it has something to do with regulations requiring the entire wheel/tire be within the bodywork.

I'd like to know more about this. I need to increase the camber on my spyder with GT3 LCAs. I only have 2 track days on the car, but the outer edges on the front tires have already worn through the tread.

Since I value style as well as function, I want to use spacers to bring the wheels out a bit more to counteract the wheel dipping into the well more as a result of the increased camber. If this will adversely affect the car, then I wont do the spacers.

I have the factory OEM 5mm spacers. That extra 1/4 inch really helps when cleaning the wheels. Pulls the wheel away from the caliper, and make the cleaning/access slightly better. Just a side caveat.

It doesn't make sense why they wouldn't allow spacers on the Spyder wheels.

My Boxster had PSS9s (set very aggressive) with a Tarett rear toe link kit, spacers H&R 15mm (fronts) / 18mm (rears).

Had them on for years with no issues, track days ok and it looked perfect with OEM 19s.

Almost. I checked with the dealer after leasing my Spyder about adding spacers. I was told my wheels, which are obviously not the same as the OP's, were the only ones that cannot accommodate spacers because they already have sufficient offset to max out the wheel well.

Lot's of information regarding the effect of spacers on suspension geometry available here on Rennlist, not the first time that it has been asked and probably won't be the last either.

https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...-handling.html

A small spacer like a 5mm won't affect much, but once you start going higher the OEM suspension geometry is affected, and it's not always for the better. It comes down to looks vs handling compromise at that point. Kind of similar to how people choose to go with 17" vs 18" vs 19" vs 20" wheels on their cars.

I put 7/15's on my Boxster and love the look as well.

Did you get longer wheel bolts for the rears?? (You should have)
