I haven't trcked my spyder and my observation is that the brakes have a great feel and modulation under normal braking but they "feel" weak under heavy braking. Not confidence inspiring at all. Actual braking performance is excellent.

It was suggested that was too high and a better attachment point for the shoulder straps should be lowered. It was also suggested that a cross brace be welded at the top between the roll hoops for added strength. So a little bit more involved that Ben's reinforced bracing for the roll hoops.
I'm glad you found out about this solution. It took many discussions over several months with David Ray of HOD and Tony of TC Design to get this done after many frustrating sessions in B Group. You many also want to contact The Kane here on Rennlist for his comments on the harness. I believe he has his attached without an additional harness bar and seems happy with the result. With that being said, Tony is definitely the man when it comes to custom fabrication.

This perceived mushiness varies with the level of heat in the rotor, pad, and fluid. When cold, the pedal is high and firm. When hot, the pedal is less high and less firm. With both situations, it's easy to threshold brake. This is my experience on the track with all Porsches (GTx variants with PCCB, non-GTx cars with PCCB and without). However I haven't yet taken my CR on the track. Based on comments here, I'm absolutely going to swap pads and flush with SRF before my first day with the car.

And my plan, if I end up doing more than 10-12 days per year in the car, is to switch to Interseries brakes. They're proven in those cars, so they'll work fine for my firmly amateur purposes.

I'm not sure where to buy or the price, but I would surmise that any Stoptech dealer could order the fitment. I had a full f/r Stoptech setup on an E46 M3, and that was around $5k. This one should be less since it retains the OEM rear caliper.

On an unrelated note, I'd say that the Interseries "mod list" is the easy route to follow when modifying these cars for reliable track use.

Regarding the original topic, I do wish for a few items removed from my original order: LiON battery (was not yet available), side stripe delete (ditto), AC delete (dealer changed my specs after I ordered), and rear insignia delete (ditto). Yes, I know it would not be terribly difficult to implement all of these, however I like to keep things all original.

Alan, sounds like you wanted all lightweight options.

Did you have a deposit down on your Spyder when they added the A/C back in?

Auto climate control! We had ticked that box when we ordered the car, but when it came in, it didn't have it. I don't like using the fan and temp controls at all.

It's not a huge loss, with the top down I find that I still need to fiddle with the fan and temperature controls to get the temperatures (at the seats) where I want them. I haven't driven with the top up enough to comment on how well the ACC works with a closed cabin.

No deposit. I have known the salesman for over a decade, and have been a repeat customer at the dealer, so a deposit was never discussed when the order was placed. In the end, we struck a deal we were both happy with, however I still would rather have had the car as ordered; as you mentioned, it would have been lighter, and more unique.

PSE, but lucky for me that can be added in easily. Brake pedal feel is fine enough for me. Plus yellow calipers on a red car look mcdonalds-esque.

Alan, i think the spyder code requires that it be the lightest in the range..

ie AC (-26 lbs), radio (-7 lbs), LiOn battery (-22 lbs), bi-xenons (-13 lbs), PCCBs (-7 lbs) and finally the monkey behind the wheel (<180 lbs)

unfortunately, I fail on a few things.......

we can all try..

This would be the on list of options I wish I ordered or didn't order.........

PS: I think PSE adds a few lbs (not much but I dun know the actual weight gain) , can anyone help?

I'm surprised that the xenons add 13 lbs, that is more than I would have expected. I also thought that a lithium battery would reduce the weight more than just 22 lbs, the standard battery weighs about 46 Lbs IIRC and I've seen many aftermarket batteries which weigh 11 - 15 Lbs. I plan on changing to a lightweight battery once the stock dies, that should make up for adding the A/C and Radio back in.
