Just incredible. Got the car yesterday. I now understand what the owners of Spyders already know about how fun the Spyder is to drive. My comparisons are dated (79 Ferrari 308s) but I am just amazed how well the car handles. It is very quick, incredibly responsive, corners like it is on rails, has tremendous brakes, and is just a complete joy to drive. My config is wh/blk, pccb, pse, sports shifter and sports chrono.

Here are a couple of photos...

Congrats!

The Spyder is a complete package, it has the looks, it drives even better than it looks (handling and acceleration) and it's reliable. Can't really ask for more out of a street sports car.

Your Spyder's configuration is awesome.

Enjoy in good health.

I just love yellow calipers!!!

I'm envious. Would have paid the up in a heartbeat even though the redheads are plenty for any application. They're just so cool...

Thanks guys. Registration submitted.

I forgot to mention, the car came with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires. Not sure who has these and how they compare to the other stock tires but I am impressed to say the least. I can't imagine what I am going to have to do in a corner to get the car loose.

Also wanted to ask, has anyone done the PCA school in Alabama? I have heard it is excellent. Although I have been to the track 10-15 times over a 5-6 year period it was never in a Porsche. Thought it would be a good education and introduction to some of the pcar nuances...

Phil,

I've heard/read that the Bridgestones and Michelins are the better tire for this car which means you can only expect improvements in the future.

I agree that the limits on the Spyder are very high and I think the only place to safely find them is at the track. I hope to do at least one DE this summer to see what the car can do!

We put the F1s on my wife's Boxster S (Tirerack-deal), after trying them on our 1997 M3 sedan. Their only real negative is that (in 17s and 18s, anyway) they are heavier than most of their competition. They weren't as 'happy' over rougher roads as the previous tires (Kumho V700s, PS2s and Pirellis).

Other than that, we've seen no major negatives - good grip in all weather, quieter than most. They are not comparable, however, to the top-tier performance tires.

Beautiful car in a perfect spec! Congratulations.

Phil -

NICE looking car!! And I LOVE that option list! Definitely tops for performance driving! I see that your car came out of Livermore - if you're somewhere around the Bay Area, we may even cross paths someday!

Enjoy (as if I need to tell you that.....)!!!

Phil,
We have similarly optioned cars. I've got a white spyder with PCCBs too. Would love to get a chance to hear your PSE since i'm debating between retrofitting PSE or going aftermarket remus exhaust. I live in the east bay myself, so hopefully we can run into each other sometime. Do you ever track with HOD or Trackmasters? I track with those guys fairly regularly.

Joe

Thanks again everyone. Certainly look forward to linking up with other Nor Cal Spyder owners.

I also noticed very little road noise with the F1's.

Orthojoe - In the past I ran with NorCal Shelby and Green Flag Racing. Will be running with PCA and HOD after some break-in miles. I am not familiar with Trackmasters but will check it out. As you have seen from other posts, PSE sounds really good - a little more throaty but not too much. With the top down it really offers some fun audio.

As a side note - When I originally spec'd the car I thought the Sport mode would also activate the PSE. Not so, must depress that switch independently. Also see that my switch cluster does not have the spoiler switch which is a good thing. I've seen other posters question why they had it when the spoiler was inoperable.
