Thumbs up

Looking good. So far I've put on about 400 miles to date since having the car.

I pulled my toys out of the garage yesterday, too. Did a oil and filter change on each machine, fiddled n' fussed on 'em both for a bit. My biggest problem is on a nice day, I don't know which to take to work. The Porsche is so easy, no 'gear-up' required, just hop in and go. OTOH, the bike is always more fun.

I know exactly what you mean. It's been raining here most of the week every week for the past couple of months. On a nice day I too don't know which one to take to work and my daily driver is a Honda CRX.

I wonder if that's the one that sold from Newport beach.

Well of the 32 cars in the US looks like three owners are on Rennlist and one other sighting in LA. I post in several other Boxster Forum and there's no mention of other cars there.

Cas, I washed then clay barred my car yesterday the put a coat of Zymol on the metal parts then Rejex on all the plastics bumpers etc and the wheels. The faded stripes I did try alcohol, windex and Meguirs plastic vinyl cleaner conditioner, but I still couln't get the marbling look to come off the stripes on the hood and trunk. Your car probably sat out in the weather for awhile as well, do the stripes on yours look cloudy or just mat grey?

Call my graphics guy and ask him. Ken knows everything about 3M vinyl that there is to know. I've been using him to letter my commercial trucks for over 25 years now. If there is something you can do to bring it up, he'll know what it is. Drop my name: Duane Collie, The Keeping Room

Chirs,
No there's no discolor on mine.

However, my wife was driving the other day and happen to be behind a semi. Before she was able to move away from that lane here comes the rocks coming towards her. Got the first scratch right on the stripes.

Ouch... She felt bad but coudn't do anything about it.

I saw new stripes kit in ebay and considering buying one for the sake of having it.

My stripes really look ok unless in the shade then you can see the discoloration. In bright sunshine they look perfect. I didn't talk to Doug's freind but I had talked to tech support at 3M about them. The didn't produce these stripes for Porsche but felt the material is close to theirs. He thought there was no fixing them. I might live with the little cloudinesss. PCA seemed to think Porsche might replace them if I pushed it. I looked on Ebay for a stripe kit. I couln't find it. I bet the kit from Porsche is expensive. It isn't really noticeable unless I point it out. It would be nice to have some extra stripes though.

My car spent most of its 1-year before I got it in the showroom, before I bought it, so the vinyl on mine is in good shape. I think what you are seeing there is acid rain damage in the detail photo, and it probably won't buff out. I'd ask for a warranty repair - certainly doesn't hurt to try. You may have to go back to the selling dealer. Going to need a really good vinyl guy to get any replacements on straight, however.

Cas, I did find that Ebay sticker kit. At $202 I doubt that it is a porsche part because it claims the oem kit is $975

I agree. I doubt it's OEM.

But at that price I may buy one just to have it.

I did make an offer on one in Tennessee and one in NY but both of those dealers wouldn't get near the 50K I was offering. Those cars had MSRPs at around 72K. So then I found this car with all these options that ended up being the best deal of all. The gray stripes have just faded from sitting in the sun so some Plexus will probably bring them back. That stuff works wonders on motorcycle plastic parts so I think it wil fix those vinyl decals as well. The dealer in NY still has that new RS 60 I believe. Arlington finally bit the bullet and advertised the DE2 for 54.9 and I bit then we split the difference. I can't wait to put some miles on it.
Congrats...I almost bought that car as well but the wheels just were too much work to keep clean from my opinion. I went for an 09 Boxster (speed yellow) instead and then ended up selling it back for a launch edition 09 C2S 6 months later. Was a great car! And yes it did sit for a minute..was out there on the right corner everytime I drove by along with the Orange Cayman S and now an Orange 08 Boxster too...I think the later are still there too! Nice car..enjoy it!
