Default Porsche Design Edtion 2 Where are you

I know there's only 500 of these made and only 50 are for sale in North America. I only know of a couple of owners in the US so far. One in Virginia and the other in Pittsburg. The last two that I knew for sale (Louisville and Newport) both sold recently.

So now where are the PDE2's? I'll start first. Provide whatever info you want.

1. Serial# 213 Santa Clara, Ca

I've got one. In Fairfax Station VA purchased and shipped from Naples FL Porsche. There were 32 shipped into the USA, 18 into Canada. Mine is # 334. Interestingly enough, these were the very last cars off the Series 1 production line before the switch to Generation 2 987s. September 2008 production date as I recall from memory. Mine is stock with the exception of a Escort 9500ci install, clear front marker lights, and colored wheel caps which were done after this photo was taken.

Thanks drcrollie.

32 in the US? That make it even more interesting.

I'm keeping mine stock as well. Love those wheels that you have.

Herb Chambers has one with Carrera Sport (lovely) wheels too. These come with a Titanium watch right?

Which of these listed options are actually PD options are not PD std?

19" Carrera Sport Wheel
Automatic Climate Control
Bi-Xenon Headlight Package
Bose Surround Sound System
Heated Front Seats
Leather Sport Seats
Manual transmission
Rear Center Console in Exterior Color
Roll Bar Aluminum Look
Two-tone Leather Interior

Yes the PDE2 come with a Porsche Design wristwatch.

The Carrera Sport wheels look great on the PDE2, and they are probably easier to keep looking clean than the standard 19" wheels which are painted white.

Best regards,
Dino

The PDE2 is basically the same car as the RS60 Spyder. PDE2's only comes in White with grey stripes vs. RS60 comes in Silver with various color option for the top. Both will have the same options available. About the only thing that will be different is the wristwatch of which I do not have since I bought mine used with just over 1000 miles on it. I'm in contact with the dealer to see if they can connect me with the original owner. I sure would like to buy that watch.

Dino, you hit the nail right on the head. Those white wheels are difficult to clean and more difficult to keep clean. Luckily mine is driven only on weekends.

Hey Cas,

In silver, as on the RS60, those wheels are quite a work out to clean! Even so, I can't wait for the weather to improve so I can drive it again.

Best regards,
Dino

Visually speaking, PDE2's do not have the RS60 splitter. Also, curious... are the stripes vinyl or are they painted on?

Besides the aforementioned splitter, the RS60 has sport seats, does not have the gauge cluster hood, has perforated leather, and no Alcantara. I'm no expert on these; I'm sure there are more details I'm missing.

I'm sure there's more details that we missed. What I meant about the PDE2 being similar to the RS60 is mainly the Engine. Both cars have the 303 hp engine. Not that the 8 hp and 0 tq gain is much.

Not sure what material but they are stick on. The dealer that was selling the first PDE2 I was purchasing (which was new) removed the stripes. This was part of the reaosn I backed out of the deal. That car was located in Louisville Ky.

Its just 3M vinyl on the stripes, nothing special. If Porsche would have really been classy, they would have been painted on. I'm only a few miles from Porsche of Arlington, and they had one with the white wheels (crisk1200 - did you buy that one?). The one in Naples had these and I preferred them much moreso, I just kept thinking 'brake dust!". Plus the FL dealer was hungry, my local dealer wasn't. Here's my list of what I think was standard on the PDE2 vs a standard Boxster S as far as I can determine:

* Carrera White with Stripes
* Stone Grey Top
* 19" Sport Wheels w/ 5mm spacers
* White Instrument Gauges and Chrono (if ordered)
* White main center console and dash trim
* Stainless logo interior door sills
* Alcantara Sport Steering Wheel/Shift Lever/Handbrake
* Porsche Logo in Headrests
* Full Leather interior
* Aluminum Color Roll Bar Hoops
* Windblocker Standard
* Dash Plaque
* Printing on the Tach "Porsche Design Edition 2"
* All-red tail lamps
* Exterior intake vents painted white
* 303 HP engine
* Sport Exhaust Standard
* And one very expensive watch came with it, also limited to 500 units.

That is all I can find, anyone have other details to add?

Base PDE2 MSRP $ 68,700

Options on my car:
Sport Chrono Package W/O PCM $ 960
Black/Gray 2-tone interior $ 430
Floor mats with leather surround $ 320
19" Carrera Sport Wheels $ 445

Total MSRP $ 71,805

Price paid $ 53,500. Car was new and not in service, so I was able to get the full warranty on it, and the watch.

Yes, I bought that car from Arlington. It was heavily optioned with a price of $82,846.00. The car had 90 miles on it when I got it. I paid $51,601.00 plus the $399 paperwork fee that Arlington charges so I paid 52K. The car had it's warranty punched so I got 1 year shorted on that but I did get the watch. I have had it for 2 months now and only drove it the 260 miles to get it home. I have washed it and drove it around the block to dry the brakes once and moved it to my main garage after I sold the 05 S2000 it replaced. I plan to coat those white wheels with Rejex this spring when the 36" plus snow melts from my yard. The gray stripes seem to have some cloudiness-discoloration on them and I plan to treat them with something. I was first thinking a little alcohol or windex but a detailler from this site says to try plexus first. I really enjoyed driving the car home from Va and am anxious for spring to come here. This is a photo out my back door, there is 15 more inches on top of this now. The boxster photo is from the dealer. The car has the roll hoops painted white as well, along with PASM. I still have my 07 C2S and will miss the S2000 but needed the garage space.
