Default Instrument cluster removal?

Hi all,

I've tried this question on another forum and didn't get a response. I'm trying to get my instrument cluster out and I can't figure out how to remove this one trim piece--the part marked in red in the picture below (that I gratuitously stole from the original poster). Does anyone have experience with this? It sounds as though it's supposed to just pull off, but mine doesn't want to budge when I pull it and I'm afraid to pry at it.

I appreciate any advice!

Did you try posting over at Cayman club?

Thanks for the tip. I just searched over there and couldn't find a thread that talked about removing this specific piece. I found one thread that had some pages out of the tech volume that describe how to remove the actual gauge, but that doesn't tell me how to remove this trim piece. Can you maybe find a specific link?

On a side note, it drives me nuts how many different forums there are for boxsters on the web!

I think you are going to have to start a thread for this one at caveman club

Actually it looks as if it is the same on the 997 if that helps your search

Thanks, I searched both 997 and 987 forums here and didn't have any luck.

Grab the piece from underneath, pushaway while pulling down, it clips around the rear side.

By "pushaway" do you mean push it IN towards the dash!? If so, then NO WONDER I wasn't able to get it off before--I was trying to pull it out!

Yeah, Exactly, sorry hard to convey that. You basically push in and down.
