Mooty, Is this a typo? I have'nt driven either one of them. How ever I know your history of Porsche ownership and I am curious. If true, that IS impressive, and can you PLEASE elaborate a bit.
Thanks

s2k is really really really good if you strip out the interior, fix the bumpsteer geometry problem. it's a hoot on the track. however, when you do this, it's no longer streetable as it will no longer have AC and of course, every joint will be mono *****.

for everyday car, i take cayman. for soemthing you really want to beat the sh*t out of, s2000 is much much cheaper and if you lightened it, it could run very similar if not better lap time than a full int. cayman (i know i am not doing a fair comparison, as i dont think too many of us will strip out a nice cayman). what i am trying to stress is that many ppl look down on s2000 b/c of the high strung 4 pot motor. but that thing is strong. ppl are spining it at 8k rpm all day, with 30-40k track miles on it, it keeps on going. the car does eat wheel bearings though. but they are dirty cheap to replace.

Just did a bigger AutoX here in San Diego with SCCA. Fun. But I bought the car just last month and its way too greasy on the cheap *** low-budget tires. I have to get some streetable DOT tires and go back out. Everyone else there practically had Slicks. SLICKS!

Perfectly neutral. I will have to get those rear toe links and put them on - then go get a real alignment with some camber all around.

I think for 20k with a few upgrades that its a hoot. The SC is even carb legal. Southern CA top down driving can be had 80% of teh time, so the smaller cabin with lots of noise is not always an issue.

Upper A arms? Adjustable probably? I like it that they are even available!

RA1. Let me look at the tread. I was thinking someyhing like the old Dunlop SSRs. Soft, sticky, but usable on the street and not too pricey.

Adjustable billet front upper a-arms. Made from 2024 aluminum with military grade teflon lined Aurora rod ends. Allows increased camber adjustment from +4 deg. camber to -4+ deg. negative camber.

toyo RA1 is soft (tread rating 100), DOT r compound. has lots of thread when new. 8/32, good rain tire at full tread on track. at 3/32 or less, it's very very grippy on track. i run them on street as well.

s2k will take 245 and 275 in 18". (prices are 245 front and 280 rear or so)
i am not famiilar wiht 17" sizes.

I love rennlist. More info from a Porsche driver named Mooty who for some reason has two Caymans in two posts then I gleaned from reading the damn www.s2ki.com for 1.5 months. I think it speaks to the general intelligence and maturity level. I love the car (s2k) but the people are... Infantile and simply undynamic.

18s are supposed to be difficult to fit, but I would do those anyway, because don't slicks come in 18 mostly anyway?

two caymens??? you may have the number wrong... try MORE.
i am insane as most of my friends agree with that.
well, a lot of s2k drivers on s2ki are ricers who pose rather than drive. i suppose that's why the car has the image that it does, especially after that pink s2k on fast and furious hahaha. i dont remember rylan's handle on s2ki, some ppl call him Ry. he's very very knowledgeable on s2k.

18" is pretty easy to fit at 245/275. i dont know the offset, it's huge (offset that is.)

John,

Today, q lady side-swiped Christopher (our son) in his Highlander. The car is towed and we will see it tomorrow morning. If it is totalled, that will open up one slot in the garage. There is still hope yet.

John,

Looks like the Highlander is repairable. If so, the Cayman has to wait. I'll know more on Monday.

Thanks.

I can't believe that you're holding off the purchase of the Cayman because there isn't a spot for it in your garage! Just park one car outside!!!!
