Default One guy loving his car

I followed an arctic silver 987 (base) home from work yesterday along a pretty curvy coastal road. The guy driving it, probably mid-late 60's, was CLEARLY enjoying himself. I was following in my CS with windows down and moonroof open.

The driver of the 987 was really darting around, powering through turns and accelerating on the straights. I was following in my CS and was surprised by the 987's torque when he accelerated to try to pull away from me. Also, when he opened it up, the engine note sounded terrific, even from 50 feet or so behind.

There's a great canyon road very near me that winds from the Conejo Valley to Pacific Coast Highway.

I used to run it a bit in my old Z3 2.8L but frankly, it was so twisty and up and down, it wasn't that fun.

But the first time I took it on in my 987S, I was litterally laughing out loud at how it took all the hairpins and switchbacks! I'll never forget that first time and of course, I go back frequenlty.

I ran a road similar to that in a silver 987 yesterday. However I'm not close to 60, at least I hope I wouldn't be mistaken for that.
Plenty of good twisty roads here in the Bay Area, especially coming and going from the coast. It's one of the reasons I put up with insane housing prices. Everyone should bring there 987/986 to the hills and coast of San Mateo and Marin counties. What is really nice is that some of these roads are as little as 10 minutes from my house. Great therapy. Although with gas prices now, the price advantage over going to a therapist has been lost.

On the right course with the right driver, the 987s will surprise a lot of people! Thanks for sharing

Can't help replying as, but for the color (mine's a manual Carrera white 987), that old fart could well have been me. Had it for about 10 months now, only use on weekends, and just hit 12K...the smile can't be wiped off!. I live in the SF Bay Area and agree the roads around here are awesome - scenic too.
