stock fluid boils too easily. stock pads are okay but not great for heavy track use.

It is my opinion that the problem more than likley in your braking technique than the brakes themselves!

I've driven Laguna, Barber Motorsports, Road America, Willow, and have never had a problem with fade using stock from the factory setup in 996, 997 and 997S.

Porsche brakes are the best out of the box system supplied in any production car.
Maybe your just too slow to experience it!??

"Hard" initial application (at the verge of ABS) you in effect will be using the brakes for the shortest amount of time slowing the car down.
Progressive application will build more heat.

Barber Motorsports Park is very hard on the brakes, with lots of downhill trailbraking, no problems there.

Laguna is not really a big brake track and has alot of cooloff time.

I love my bright blue rotors!

Still scratch my head

Want really phenominal brakes....get PCCB

Okay, back to the subject: brake pads.

I just changed my brake fluid to ATE blue. I am upgrading front pads to Pagid Orange but got stuck. So I ran to the board to find some answers.

Questions:
1) I was told CaymanS/BoxsterS/996/997 use the same front pads as GT3 rear. True?
2) If so, I want to use my GT3 rear Orange pads to put in the Cayman front. However, these pads don't have the 'cylindrical' taps that looks like weights at the end. What are those things for anyway?
3) I now realize what's all the fuzz about not be able to slide in the pads. I found the inside pad I can slide in with the cylinder puck. But the outside pad can only do without the puck. Is it okay to not use these cylinder puck?
4) what do you guys do with the brake sensor?

Joe: Sorry that I can't answer most of your questions (I've been watching for answers too), but I think the Pagid Orange (probably Yellows as well) may run a bit thicker than most of the other pads. When new, I don't think they will fit with the OE backing plates also installed. Plastic tie the brake sensors out of the way.

joe, fong told my about your pads.
with regard to brake warning sensor, i just cut them off and ground it, zip to to somethign that doesn't move much in the wheel well.

you HAVE TO pull out those anti squeal spyders in side the caliber, else you will never get pagids to fit. and if you break in the pads correctly, they will not squeak even without the the anti squeal disks (my C2, GT3 or cayman, none of them squeak with yellow or oranges).

the pad will be very tight as you slide into the caliber (my rotors aren't even new). you have to push the piston flush, and if you dont have one of thes eagle day tool, most likely your pistons are NOT flush into the caliber. then you have to gently and forcefully (sounds contriditory) tap the pads into place.

Mooty, I actually managed to install the Pagid Orange (inside and out) with the anti squeal spyder plates. No problem for me afterall.

How about questions #1 & 2?
1) I was told CaymanS/BoxsterS/996/997 use the same front pads as GT3 rear. True?
2) If so, I want to use my GT3 rear Orange pads to put in the Cayman front. However, these pads don't have the 'cylindrical' taps that looks like weights at the end. What are those things for anyway?

__________
996c2's front = GT3 rear. i use them interchangeably and never had prob on track

cayman front SHOULD be same as GT3 rear. i tried it, but not on track.

__________

i think non of the pagid got them.

If you are talking about the stock pads then those are more anti-squeal bits they put on the street pads. I believe they are vibration dampers.
