Yep,......last report I saw was for a Sept '05 release......maybe sooner? I'm saving every penny I can find......really want the "S" version, but looks like the base will still be loads of fun with a little less weight then the roadster and 240HP.......can't wait!

I'm wondering the same thing. 240 is just ten short of the original S, which is the only S I've driven. The 250 felt really powerful, so 240 can't feel much slower?! But 280 sounds like a killer car, so I'd love to have an S as well. I guess the final decision will have to be made with a test drive. Either way, I'll be significantly up on my 201!

Also note that the '05 regular will have a 6 speed gearbox option. I guess that just leaves the brakes and front ducting as the difference between an S and non-S. Since the '05 S will have the ceramic brake option I would suspect (but don't know for sure) the regular might be able to option big reds. If that's the case it seems like you can option up an '05 regular to that of a previous year S. Although, I'm not sure if that'll be cost effective, but it's a thought.

These cars look great. I'm in total agreement that a "CS" coupe would be a very exciting proposition indeed. All I've read and seen regarding the 997 development has impressed me and it appears that Porsche is continuing its longstanding tradition of careful (and extensive in detail) refinement.

I understand that the 997's 6 speed box is all new, and apparently the same is true for the Boxter S...Does anyone know if they are the same? I'm also very pleased that this gearbox will be optional on the "regular" Boxter.

Thanks,

Allan

The Boxster "S" coupe is exactly the car I have been waiting for - All the good stuff and if usual pricing holds, it should be high $40's or so. Time to raid the piggy bank and get the funding in order!!

I do, but I guess someone else beat me to it while I was at the gym.

Too bad no pricing in those guides and some options (like deviated stitching) appear to be missing, still some interesting combos that are going to make it a little tough on car salespeople at the dealership to get the packages configured properly I bet, hopefully Porsche will have a nice config tool on the web that will let you play with all the combos to see what suits you best.
