Default 987.2 TPMS Question

Hello All,

I recently picked up a set of used 19" Sport Design Wheels for my 987.2 Boxster, the previous owner said the TPMS are Schrader 33560. I've been trying to get them setup but my cars doesn't seem to be reading the sensors even after 20 mile drive. Any idea if these sensors are compatible or need to be re-programmed? They were previously mounted on a 997.1, reading online i believe both the 997.1 and my 987.2 use 433Mhz?

They're from 2023 so I believe the batteries should still be good.

Thanks,
Ed

Part number is 99760602120, I believe. I replaced my TPMS sensors earlier this year with the OEM Huf Intellisens 433 Mhz sensors for $23/each from tpms dot com. Direct fit, worked immediately. The Porsche labeled version of the same sensor on that site runs closer to $69.

Did the installer just put them into the wheels and they worked, or did they have to do any programming and/or syncing with the car?

Thank you, i called up TPMS.com and ordered the ones for a 987.2. Apparently they are not compatible with TPMS from 997.1's

I don't think there is any special programming. When I bought my car the TPMS sensors on the wheels were all dead (I knew that going in). I later bought a spare set of wheels with working sensors already installed from a RLer with a 987.2, and they connected to my car without needing anything other than selecting which tires I was using in the TPMS menu on the car (summer or winter tires). I then bought new sensors with new tires for my original wheels, and similarly all I had to do was select the tire I was using in the TPMS menu once installed. It took a few minutes of driving for the car to learn and that's it.

Good to know, would you mind sharing which TPMS you purchased?

There is a process through the gauge cluster to set wheel size, summer/winter tires, and then reset, so you have to do something beyond just mounting the wheels. The sensors should sync after a few miles of driving. I believe it is "TPMS set". The batteries should be good for about 8-10 years. Tire shops can quickly scan the wheel to see if the sensor is working without removing the wheel or dismounting the tire.

To answer any remaining questions, I ordered the $23 Huf sensors from TPMS.com and they work flawlessly on my 987.2. The tire shop didn't do any programming or activation, they just physically installed them in the wheels.

After I installed the wheels onto the car, I selected "Winter" for the tires in the TPMS menu. Then after driving for a couple of minutes, they were picked up by the system and reading pressures as expected.

Code:
UVC0811-PORSCHE-CAYMAN

Item:
Porsche Cayman Huf Intellisens TPMS Sensor 7PP907275F 433MHz[Valve Stem Option (RDV):Silver Metal Valve Stem (Standard)]

Also, you can get a 10% discount using the code "PCA10" which kept my order under $100 after taxes and shipping.

I just want to add. There is nothing wrong with replacing just a single sensor. Just like any sensor, it's not a service ite
