I just swapped out all of the interior lights with a kit. There was some odd behavior going on during the swap. The glove box worked after swap, then stopped, now works fine. While I was doing the vanity mirrors for a while the passenger one would go on and off when I flipped the driver's side up and down, while I was getting that side sorted. Now everything is in and the footwell lights do not work. I swapped one with the working glovebox unit, and tried putting the original bulbs back in-nothing. It seems like some odd computer thing-wouldn't be the first. I don't think it's a fuse, I did check, and everything else in the car works. Any insight is appreciated-someone else had to have had the same issue-
cheers
Hello, it would probably be helpful to describe your vehicle and year. Without that info, I can be vague. LEDs work at different specs that the original bulbs do, so they can play nasty tricks on any modules controlling them. The modules are looking for feedback from the bulbs that is not present in the LED.
If you want to prove it out, install the factory bulbs, and you may have to disconnect power to the LCM to have it reset.
I have seen all sorts of issues with LED bulbs that don't have the correct resistance.
I am aware of the polarity requirement. I have done this on other vehicles. I tried flipping around, and swapping with the glovebox unit, which is known to work. I did try disconnecting the battery. I swapped in an original in the footwell to check. I do have a meter.
OK-up and running. Inside one of the two housings was a diode (I believe) on one side of the terminals-it must be gone because it wasn't passing juice through it. When I jumped and took it out of the equation the light worked. Mysteriously the other side started working too-didn't do anything different there. I've got no legit explanation for that part, or explanation why the glovebox light wouldn't work in either footwell. Thanks for all the suggestions.
IIRC (and it's been a while) on my 987.2 the glovebox light lens had a zener diode in the circuit. I believe this was to drop the voltage a bit so the glovebox light wasn't too bright.

Interesting, that's probably it. With all the swapping back and forth troubleshooting, the glovebox light def could have ended up in the footwell.
