I've had my Porsche Tequipment roof rack for 5 years. This is engineered to fit into the 4 slots in our 987 roof. The 981 does not have this option though.

Haven’t seen the 987 version, but I can say the factory roof rack I had for my 944/968 was very cleverly engineered and some high quality kit.

Good luck in the hunt.

I bought one on eBay recently, purchased new from Porsche by previous owner but never used before he sold his car. They're out there, you just need to search them out.

options include
Rocky Mounts
Thule
Yakima
Porsche
All make Porsche compatible mounts / hardware (Rocky may no longer sell the roof rail attachments)
or
Sea Sucker.

There's a set of 996 bars for sale here that are said to fit 987s, but note that the correct 987 bars do have a different part number. It does appear that others in this thread have made 996 bars work.

Hi:

I used the 996 bars on both my 2004 996 GT3 and my 2011 987 Cayman S. You just need to extend one of the bars with a hex wrench. Easy to do.

Photos of my cars with same bars.
