Default Roof Rack Recommendations

Hi, everyone. I'm looking for a roof rack for my 987. I've done a fair share of Googling and searching these forums and it seems like Yakima is the most accessible system? I see a lot of racks advertised for new Caymans and 911s, but I'm coming up short on availability of racks that fit a 987. Does anyone have recommendations for roof rack systems or places to look?

Thank you! That should make it easier to find.

Just to confirm, this will fit the Cayman without issue?

I would double check with a dealer.

I bought a 987 rack used and had to buy replacement locks.

The replacement lock part number was 996

The dealer wasn't sure if it would fit. They tried looking in their databases, checking dimensions, and calling some other dealers but no dice. Since these cars have pre-specified mounting points even a slight variation might cause it not to fit.

They offered to order the 996/997 rack and try it on. If it fits, it's mine. if it doesn't fit, they'll ship it back and I'll get one from Yakima.

Great news! Even though the 987 and 996 roof racks have different part numbers, the 996 rack fits like a dream on my Cayman. It doesn't sit perfectly flush, but I'm not sure it is supposed to?

It is the Porsche Roof Transport System. Model number is 996-801-105-00.

It's made for the 996/997 but fits the Cayman without a problem.

Well.... "without a problem" was definitely a BIT off the mark. I had a pretty tough time getting this Roof Rack to fit properly. But it did go on....in the end....whew!! I was having visions of having to package it back up, and return it - at great cost, to myself!! But with some 'fighting', I got it to work.
I ended up having to 'very loosely' attach everything - and slowly tighten it up, in place. Otherwise, this was a super stressful fit up...
