Default SOUL Exhaust + Tune - Experiences ??

Looking into getting a tune + SOUL headers + Exhaust for my 11/ Cayman S (987.2) Manual as I am trying to achieve some more power across the power band specifically between 4-7000 RPM with quicker response ie: 0-60 and 0-100 MPH times. I have NO interest in tracking but I want as much responsiveness I can achieve with what I currently have. Will also look at suspension as well - likely lowering an 1 inch for the time being using stock suspension so just springs. I would be curious to hear about other's experiences on SOUL and whether they achieved what they were looking for ? I am also looking at a bit more aggressive sound BUT not something that sounds out of place. Thanks in advance ... being winter in Toronto some of us have time to think about this ...perhaps too much time ! Cheers. Abe

Thank you for considering us! Have you spoken to anyone here yet? We currently have a 987.2 Cayman S and Cayman R in our fleet (just sold our third Cayman S for a Macan) and we'd be happy to give you real world feedback!

If you haven't checked out the various youtube vids, do so, specifically Supercars of Philadelphia channel. I believe his 987.1 CS has the competition package (full exhaust setup including catless headers) and IPD intake plenum with GT3 throttle body (among other mods). The car sounds like a mini GT3.

I live locally to Soul Performance and am interested in doing the plenum and possible GT3 throttle body replacement as my first performance upgrade. It seems to be praised by everyone. A small WHP bump is expected but more importantly, a sharper throttle response is promised as the car can breathe more freely. Specifically, upper RPM band revs are optimized. That's where we have our fun right?

I don't know who does Soul's performance tune, and have no opinion about their exhaust, good, bad or otherwise.

But, I did exactly what you said you want to do using Brombacher FVD parts and tune to my '07 Boxster S. The tune is a do it yourself install, the exhaust was a quick outsource, everything fit perfectly. I used the sport exhaust with the TUV-limited muffling, and it is a (for me) perfect pitch of OEM and a little extra. The tune does exactly what you describe as wanting, essentially remaps the throttle a little, feels like it opens up quicker at around 3,000 RPM. They don't publish power numbers except to say if you use the exhaust/air filter plus tune it is maybe 15HP. Feels pretty much like it to me.

The only non- OEM software I feel comfortable using on a Porsche is FVD. BTW, I have no affiliation at all, just a happy customer. They'll give you a bit of a discount if you're a PCA or Rennlist member, but you gotta ask.

Sure, for the money I got a more fun, more responsive, better sounding car. The software is similar to what you get with Sport Chrono, I think, so if you have that option, I wouldn't bother. The exhaust is midway between stock and the Porsche Sports Exhaust. It's also all plug and play, no check engine lights, no codes, no hassles with fit.

My friends install many makes of exhaust but their go to is SOUL. But not every customer is the same. With improvements backed up by dyno results SOUL is IMO one of the best and would be my first choice. Full headers exhaust and cobb tune and you would be shocked how much of an improvement. Although they do their own custom tunes using a cobb port and dyno to see even more improvement. I have a 981 BGTS and I wouldn't consider the volume of the SOUL to be out of place compared to the factory sport exhaust.

That is indeed Matt's setup, you're on point haha. If you're up for it, give me a call sometime at 484 883 6197, I'd love to chat with you a bit more in depth about the intake mods. I'll make sure you have proper expectations and we can chat about doing the install

I appreciate you chiming in with your experience. Rhonda at FVD is a gem and their products are great.

For your reference, for our software we use Scott over at Softronics and he has been tuning Porsches for over 30 years. He is also a PCA Club Racing sponsor like us and is who PCA uses to check all the ECUs to ensure no one is cheating. He also tuned all the Cayman Interseries cars, and the winning GTB1 cars. He is an A player in the software industry and we are quite happy to have a relationship with him, he knocks it out of the park every time haha.

Best regards,
John Gaydos

Default Soul

I have done business over 25 years with many R’list sponsors/vendors and private R’lers. Can truthfully say all experiences have ranged between 9 and 10 on 10 scale.

John,

Can you explain a bit how buying a Softronics tune via your website works? I already have your catback exhaust and looking to add headers + tune and want to make sure I get an ECU tune that takes full advantage of the mods. Is the softronics tune specific to the mods on my vehicle or is it a canned tune? I’m trying to weigh the pros/cons of getting a cobb + protune versus getting everything from you guys.

Thanks!
