What Exhaust Tips? Experience-No Drone

I've had my 06 CS MT for a little over two years and I love it. But I hate the exhaust box in the back. Wife said it looked like an "alien head from War of the Worlds".
Can't have that, my ego cannot take such comments.![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I searched the forums and didn't get much on the sound comparison between the...mostly three choices.
1. Fabspeed
2. Soul
3. aFe
Dream2 is no longer in business. I talked to them a couple of days ago.
These are the differences I see and I am not concerned in the least with performance gains but I love the stock sound as is. There are some comments on P9 but I'll state the differences I see. These are just observations as I have not physically seen any of them other than the internet posts.
1. Fabspeed. Appears to have a single radius tube to the tip, one for each bank, no intermix between the to exhaust banks.
2. Soul- Cross pipe design, assume some chamber intermix in the middle of the pipe.
3. aFe- Similar to the 981 tips in design, there is a cross bank tube with an inner tube to each tip inside the crossbank to direct the exhaust out.
I have a tendency to believe that Porsche intermixed the exhaust pulse to "quiet" the pulse slightly. That's a quess.
Like to hear anybody else's direct experiences and thoughts on the above. Given my assumptions I'm more likely to go with choice 2 or 3.
Thought's anyone?
Thanks in Advance.

I'm new to the Cayman S group... and I'm also looking at some replacement tips. So far, I'm liking the "look" of the FabSpeed options (especially the flat black CF version) -- but heck... nice shiny Chrome sure would look good against Guards Red. Good luck with the search!

Well....the Fabspeed is like the Ghetto mod other than that they kept the "Alien Head" which I wouldn't have done.
I do think Porsche thought about crossover and pressure equalization and while Fabspeed discusses flow I don't believe the Porsche engineers didn't think about it. That they have crossover in the 981 and that they ditched the "Alien Head" gives some merit to the stock design and the sound. I just think the "Alien Head" was some afterthought and they left it up to some body in white guy to finish in their zeal to get it out there with the first 987 CS.
I am having a tendency to go with the a4e one since that design came later with the 981.

Good to know. I like your license plate(s)... very cool. I too am an ex 73 914 2.0 owner. Sold it to a collector somewhere in the Midwest a few years ago. Bought the Cayman with the funds. My wife just wouldn't ride in the teener any longer. Can't believe the values now. I owned that car 15 years.
Back on topic:
I am a civil engineer not mechanical so if I take into account crossflow design of the Soul product .....I'm not smart enough to do the calcs...I'd assume that the Soul design might scavenge better. In effect dual purpose having that design for sound and scavenging. When I watched the Fabspeed Youtube, they talk about the flow being greater in their product but is that laminar flow or the pulsed flow of the exhaust that was simulated in the testing? Don't know. I do care about the sound.
I have no financial interest in any of the three....just looking for feedback and thoughts.
Thanks for yours!

Unless one is willing to pay into a fuller type of solution... from full on headers, down pipes, mufflers (or Helmholtz resonators) and tips -- or -- "just an axle-back or cat-back" bolt-on solution, I don't think people should expect dramatic/significant increases in "better sound" from just a set of better looking tips and several inches of pipe. (Maybe I'm mis-interpreting the OP's intent with the post... but it seemed like the question centered around tips only; not a full or partial replacement exhaust system.

I have a Fabspeed Valvetronic in my 987.2 Cayman S. I've got the matt black carbon fiber tips. Love the way it looks and sounds!
