2012 Cayman S Black Edition - #209 of 500
Hello Rennlisters,
After a dreamy 9 months with a bare bones 987.1 S, I went on a hiatus with an S2000 track car for a couple years. I always knew I would get back into a Porsche but really wanted to do it right the second time. After months of searching, I found the right car - so after a good PPI I jumped on a plane and picked it up. Couldn't wipe the grin off my face all the way home!
2012 Porsche Cayman S
- Black Edition #209 of 500
- 6-speed Manual Transmission
- Sport Shifter
- Carbon Fiber backed Sport Bucket Seats
- Carbon Ceramic Brakes (PCCB)
- PASM
- Sport Chrono
- Limited Slip Differential
I am super excited to have picked up this car! With PSE, the option list would have been perfect. In truth I was searching for a Cayman R, but I was unable to find one with the Buckets and Manual Transmission. After researching the Black Edition, I was sold. R power, great wheels, big brake option, bucket seat option, rarity, etc. It keeps the looks more subtle and you get access to the wonderful options of the R (minus the suspension of course). Plus, I love black...
Before I even washed it the first time, I bolted on a Remus Stainless Steel exhaust system with the black tips. I am a sound snob, and a sports car should be audible! I am very pleased with the exhaust note, it has no real drone and sounds better everywhere in the rpm. Not too loud, I would say quieter than my gen 1 with Remus (which makes sense).
Dont worry, the OE exhaust is safely stored away, as will all of the OE components.
I have a few cosmetic options planned, and want to look into the PASM controller upgrade, but overall the car is perfect. I am looking forward to keeping it for a long time!

Wow great score!!! LWB's and PCCB's with a MT on a Cayman has to be highly uncommon.
The Active PASM controller is impressive, I drove a friends 997.2 with the controller installed and was blown away at how sharp the car felt and how well it kept the car flat.
Enjoy in good health!

Nice find! Fantastic spec with the LWB and PCCB's. I have an R myself and honestly, I do not think you are missing much without the PSE option. I ordered my R from the factory and the only thing I was somewhat disappointed in is the PSE exhaust -- it is too subtle, IMO. Enjoy your ride!

Thanks for all the well wishes!
I appreciate all the positive comments folks!
Just got a DA polisher today, will claybar and polish with Meguiars M205 this week. Then I can proceed with applying some cosmetic mods I picked up.
- Matte Black Cayman R side stripe
- Black Cayman R headlight surround
- Euro side markers

205 will do a nice job with removing the light swirls. Which pad did you buy?
The ghosted porsche lettering will look absolutely awesome. I remember seeing a Spyder with the ghosted porsche lettering back when they were first introduced and I loved the look.
I have to admit that I’m surprised the Black Edition didn’t have black headlight surrounds, seems like it should have been a no brainer. Can’t wait to see the results!

@Marine Blue Exactly how I feel on the headlight surrounds! I saw a blacked out GT3 Touring with the ghost stripes and was blown away. Hope it does justice here!
