Thanks for the advice mate. Im thinking of starting off with the softronic tune and then take it from there.

Is there anything i would need to look out for or consider while doing the tune?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

My last cayman was 2006 S and I did the softronic tune along with fabspeed exhaust and headers and intake and ipd plenum and gt3 tb,was very happy with results.
i just bought a 2012 cayman base and already did carnewal exhaust and BMC filter ,I am thinking of doing headers and then softronic.cobb doesn’t do base 2.9 Engines and softronic was very reliable.

Hey! I figured I'd tag in here. Being that you are in CA and you aren't even say the word exhaust without the fun police coming after you, what other plans did you have with the car? Do you currently have any other bolt-ons? Sometimes making some other upgrade first (IPD, BMC Filter) can get you exactly where you want to be power wise, BUT then down the line, you can add a tune (preferably a Fabspeed tune with custom mapping) the tune will accommodate all the bolt-ons at that point and maximize your gains! I'd be happy to chat about what exactly the Fabspeed Expertune is all about if interested! Feel free to shoot me a PM to chat!

FWIW: I was fortunate to find a used IPD plenum and 82mm throttle body for $600, about half what they cost new, and I purchased FVD software that made my little 2.7 run like a big dog. The nice thing about FVD is, their programmers reside in German with ties to mama Porsche(so they claim). As you modify your car, each time you add another piece of hardware they will give you an update at no cost. When you make your purchase, they send you a hand held device that you connect through the port under the dash. This records your cars program and VIN. You upload it to them along with details of what you've added to date and they send you a download that you save to the h/held and you install it in your buggy. It's all about air in/air out. I couldn't cough up the dough/$3K for the street headers w/200 cell CATS. But had I, my base model would be/supposedly over 300hrspwr. You don't gain much by going with a different exhaust so says my research, but a meaner sounding exhaust note. You'd need to go to a race exhaust which might drive you bat$hit in normal street driving for any appreciable gains in that department. You don't add a "chip". You reflash your ECU. And if you think you will have any appreciable gains from a flash only, forget it. Air in/air out.
