Suncoast (no affiliation) offers a spare for the Boxster. https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/987STK.html
Not cheap, but you won't have to wait to have your Boxster towed anywhere. I bought mine off eBay for $400 from someone who had sold their Cayman. Going to Rennsport in Sept, and don't want a tire problem costing me a day or more.

@grgallo: 987.2s are mechanically solid. What you should look out for it deferred maintenance. By now, 2009-12 models should have had at least one major service (plugs, fluids, filters, etc.). You might experience clunky shifting from the PDK or idle issues if that isn't the case.

I just gotta say this...there are hundreds of things that can fail and leave you on the side of the road that are more likely to fail than a modern tire. Why do we obsess about a tire failure?
I may have found a flat/low tire in my driveway or garage over the years, but I'm sure it's been 30 years or more since I had a tire failure on the road.
Perfectly comfortable driving my 987 Cayman with no spare.

thanks again RLs and for the additional info. I drove the '09 PDK and was not very happy. It could be: a) I don't know how to manage PDK, b) PDK in automatic mode shifted too soon (I didn't see specific revs it shifted at) but before I knew it I was in 5th of 6th, way too soon IMO, c) I tried the steering wheel actuators but since it was my first PDK, I was shifting too soon and d) I think it moved up 2 gears if I held the actuator down too long. I suspect Porsche realized this and added sports mode sports plus mode in later years to shift at higher revs? I drive '87 911 and '89 951 Coupes and after engines warmed up I typically shift 1000-1500 below red line. My guess the PDK is shifting much more below red line.
