Is there any difference in the X73 suspension for PDK versus manual cars? IE: can a PDK X73 work on a manual Cayman? Along those lines, do the Boxster/Cayman parts differ?
It will work fine with any variant. PDK X73 has slightly stiffer bars (and maybe slightly stiffer spring rates, but don't quote me on that one). I believe bar stiffness varies boxster to cayman also, but it's not material.

Hey there - revving this thread back up. I had the X73 installed on my Cayman S aftermarket and the front doesn't seem to be as low as it should be. I have a friend with the same suspension, same car (except its PDK) and his front sits WAY lower. Any reason why??
PDK version of X73 won't cause the ride height to be different. Ride height difference could be due to incorrect installation, incorrect X73 parts, or wheel/tire combo differences car-to-car.

if installation was correct, you may just have to wait some miles for it to settle.

What during the installation could have been done wrong to cause this? I asked a porsche tech and he said that if the springs weren't seated properly I would definitely be able to tell.

1) Was it a dealership tech that did the installation or a highly experienced indy Porsche tech?
2) Are you 100% sure the parts were all correct for a complete X73 kit? IOW, where did you get the parts?
3) The car you are comparing to, are you sure it has no other mods, is a correct OEM X73 suspension installed correctly?
4) Where are you measuring? I assume both cars are 981 cars. If so, measure from the bottom edge of the fender open, over the top of the tire, down along the tire and wheel to the ground. Compare both cars measuring the same way. What is the difference?
5) It's possible to not let the struts settle all the way to their fully seated position and clamping them in place, thereby causing a higher than normal ride height. Back to question 1, was it a qualified tech? Some Porsche dealer techs may have never done a X73 retrofit. I had a Porsche dealer botch a PSE retro fit, had another dealer un-f**k it for me.
Don't measure fender to ground as that includes tire deflection due to tire pressure and tire diameter differences due to wheel/tire size. Always measure fender to center of wheel.
It's pretty hard to mess up the X73 install. The strut assemblies come as preassembled units with strut, sprint, bumpstop, and strut mount all together. When the strut seats into the upright, there is a tab for it to sit on so its clear when its in all the way. It's possible to clamp the strut in a higher position, but you'd have to be a dummy AND be pretty lucky to have it not slide nicely into place.
