i am creating my 1st post. I have learned so much reading these forums and would like suggestions from anyone available. I have been in a 2002 Boxster Base since 2012 and have loved this car. I now have 208K miles, and find that due to commuting 180 miles between home and work, phone conversations are nearly impossible with the top down at 85mph. I would like to trade or sell my Boxster and switch to a Cayman. I am looking at a 2007 Csyman S with 21K miles and a 2010 Csyman S with 76K miles. Both are similarly equipped. The ‘07 is priced at 31,300 at Porsche dealership. The ‘10 is priced at $29,500 owned by an individual. Question: which is better option for my daily car will average driving 35K miles annually?

Tough call...but I would lean towards the 2010 (assuming it has well documented history/maintenance and does well with pre-inspection, compression test, overrev report, etc.). You mentioned phone conversations and the 10 may come equipped with Bluetooth. It also has more durable interior trim (like temp control buttons), DFI engine, and no IMS. Either way, they strike me as priced high - I would have expected mid twenties out the door but, admittedly, I have not researched them in a while. Best of luck! -Dom

Going to test drive the ‘10 Saturday will let you know. The Porsche dealership in Wichita will not come down on price for ‘07
If you've had a convertible for six years, switching to a coupe might be an issue. Been there done that, coupe only lasted a year. Maybe move to a newer Boxster. Top up on the highway they are much quieter than older models. Late 987 and early 981 Boxsters should be in that same price range.
All other things being relatively equal, I'd go with the 2010 hands down for all the reasons outlined by Dom911.1. It's just a better car overall and if you ever go to resell it, you won't have to worry about perceived/real IMS issues affecting resale value. I'm assuming that both are manuals. If not, PDK is a world of difference vs. tiptronic, so another huge reason to go with the 987.2 (2010).

Actually, the 07 is probably only 2000-3000 over market, considering that it's an S and the low mileage.assuming excellent condition and proper service. Depending on how much low mileage matters to you, the newer car is a relative bargain and is technically a better car. Happy hunting!
