Wheel Thread: Yokohama Advan Racing TCIII (TC3) x 987.1
Thought I'd share some pictures since I couldn't find very much in terms of running the Advan TCIII on a Cayman S 987. Hopefully they come in handy for someone looking to run these wheels.
Lowered 30mm on Vogtland lowering springs, and OEM PASM shocks. Tire size was for test fitting, but they'll be removed shortly.
18x8.5 +51 w/ 5mm spacer = +46mm; 265/35/18
18x11 + 40 w/ 5mm spacer = +35m; 275/35/18
New tires are on the way, and I'll be running 245/40/18 F & 275/40/18 R.
And one last pic of the the 987 with the daily =T

Racing wheels always look good to me on a 987. Nice look on yours, I didn't know Yoko made wheels for our cars.
I do wonder what kind of match the 30mm drop and PASM shocks get you. The spring rate on those, whatever it is, has to be much higher than the PASM system accounts for. If it was me I'd just put in the Cayman R suspension that will get you a 20mm drop and matched up springs and shocks.

Yea, non-centerlock wheels in 19" would have been nice. There's always 19" Rays Volk TE37 Ultra?

i think you're right. With these springs, the ride is a lot more sportier/firm with sport/PASM OFF. With it ON, the ride becomes way too harsh.

I just sold a set of TE37s. My preference, if you go aftermarket, is BBS. A set of black CH-R's on my Cayman R look real good to me. The 987 can do a 19 inch wheel fine, but looks perfectly good on 18s too.

They’re not too bad. They’re not the most quiet tires, but I’ve definitely had louder. I think they’re louder than the OE PS2 that were on the car, but they’re not as loud as NT01, Federal 595/RSR, Dunlop ZII, hat I’ve tried before (track use).
Grip wise, I tested them out at the previous local autox... they are about a 0.5-1 sec slower than an RE71R on a 40sec course, but the grip is still very good.

I don't remember the weight, but they were fairly light. Maybe around the 20-22lb range?
They are definitely strong enough for the track. They're not forged, but the quality is very good. Advan has a very good reputation, and I've yet to see or hear of any TC3 wheel failures.
There were 18x8.5 front +51 and 18x11 rear +40. I had to use a 8mm spacer in the rear to clear the factory PASM struts.
If you are ordering new, I would suggest:
18x9.0 +46 front
18x10.0 +40 rear

I have heard 19lbs?
Yes -- I am actually looking at these sizes but could go 9 in the front
8X8.5 +51MM | 18X10.0 +41MM 5X130
