I have a 2014 Boxster S with all performance handling options. Getting tired of GT4's & Spyders pulling away from me on track in the straights (even though I catch most of them in the tight sections!). Considering remapping using either FVD or Cobb tuners to increase HP and especially torque. Leaning toward FVD. Any thoughts? Also, considering new exhaust, specifically FVD "loud" version.
If you use FVD or Cobb tuning upgrades, I'd appreciate some advice.
Thanks!
PS I have an extended warranty until 2020, so I'll need to remap back to OEM files if any warranty work is needed. FVD says their setup easily does this, Cobb is iffy on it.

Burning Brakes
Can’t help you with the tune, but I do have the FVD “sound” exhaust on my 981 base Cayman track car. Running with the stock headers and cat, the exhaust sounds great on the track. The exhaust is also much lighter than the stock exhaust. However, it does drone quite a bit driving to and from the track. (I have the version without controllable dampers.) For a daily driven car the Porsche sport exhaust or a dampered FVD might be a better option.
Advanced
I think FVD may be fudging about with regards to the dealership not knowing the car has been flashed.
As for catching a GT4, you won't squeeze enough power out of the engine to catch one in a straight. The route of least monies would be trade the car in for a GT4.

The HPDE arms race is impossible in most cars, much less a 315-325hp one. Even the GT4 is mid pack at some events I go to (McLarens, GT3 RS, radicals, etc. eat them up). Just enjoy the car.
If you really want to go fast and don't want to spend GT car money, the only route is open wheel. I used to race formula mazda (a good FM is a mere ~$20k) and they run faster than 997 cup cars at all but the most wide open tracks. Safety, not so great.

Go with Cobb and have John at BGB Motorsports give you a custom tune. You do a few 3rd gear pulls to redline and log the data with the Cobb AP, send them to John, he sends you back a custom tune for your car.
I'm adding Cargraphics Sport headers to my 981 BS in about 2 weeks when they get back from Swaintech in NY getting their White Lightning ceramic coating applied mainly to keep temps down caused by radiant heating from the pipes and cats. After the headers, I'm going to have John give me a custom tune. I'm leaving the PDK software alone although that is also an option now. My car has PSE, otherwise stock for now. I've read the Cobb AP can remove all pecker tracks from the ECU when removed.

Highly recommend the Cobb AP + Fabspeed Protune combo package. Do datalogs on Cobb AP, send over files to Fabspeed, and they'll send you a custom tune for your car all for $250 only. Great value imo.
Looks like Cobb is the most recommended tuner option, especially with Fabspeed doing the custom tune. I assume they can disable the throttle cut out for left foot/trail braking. Also, their ability to adjust the PDK may be helpful. I’ll reach out to John via email before ordering. Will probably do the Cobb/Fabspeed protune before the Spring track season. Also, when my warranty runs out, the Fabspeed Track Tec intake and exhaust package looks interesting.
