So is there a way to put a 5/6pt harness in a 981 Boxster?

I haven't found anyone that makes a bar. Have thought about pulling the trim off of the hoops.

Have not heard about any hoop extension device to provide roll over protection for a 981 Boxster. For a harness bar only, this might work:

Hoop extensions are only required for 986 boxsters to pass the broom test. 987 and 981 don't need them for most people. Do you know what this harness bar is attached to? Anyone used it in a Boxster? How much does it restrict the chair movement in the back?

I looked at an OEM roll bar mechanism from 981 on eBay. Looks like a charge fires to pivot the bars even higher when it detects a rollover. Haven't seen one in person though. That's one reason I hesitate to attach the harness there. Not sure what that would do to my shoulders if strapped in!
May be able to just replace the bolts with eyebolts. Can't tell if this would be behind a steel bulkhead or accessible behind the driver. Photos attributed to 911_doctor on eBay.
Removeable bar would be better....

I know that the 911 cabs have roll bars that move when needed (roll over), but was not aware that the boxster did this as well. Are you sure?

The aluminum bar is easily accessible behind the carpet. I was thinking of tapping into it for harnesses.

I'm not sure and can't find any details about the roll over protection other than the materials used are designed to withstand a roll over. The design of the bolts from the photo above just looks like it was designed to pivot and would raise higher if actuated. Seems like a complicated design, but haven't seen any wires coming out either for actuation. These pictures are small. Search eBay for the full size images.

Default 981 Boxster S Harness Bar

Stable Energies Motorsports in Northern New Jersey fabricated a beautiful shoulder harness bar for my 981 Boxster S. Now shoulder belts are at appropriate height - without loading on the upper part of the seat back pass thru.

Great guys. Even finished it in guards red for me. Get in touch with them if you need one. I imagine it could work on a 718 as well.

I searched high and low to find something and we eventually just went ahead and had our local fabricator produce the following bar for the 981 Boxster and I'm very happy with hot it came out. We can get them to whomever wants them for $750 powdercoated in the color of your choice (excl. S&H) or we can wholesale them to your local shop in case they don't get excited about customers showing up with parts from 3rd party businesses!
