Spyders in the Wild...

The problem is the weather around here. It's wildly unpredictable. I kid you not when I say it can be raining on my driveway and dry as a bone on my back patio. You never know when it might stop or start a deluge. Being able to just push a button in traffic is a lifesaver. If I lived in a more reasonably predictable climate it would have been a tougher decision.
My other car has targa panels and it's a similar "pain".

Man, do we have nice cars.
So the battery in my riv blue spyder has always been weak. It survived last winter, but not this one.
4 trips to 4 four different stores over 4 hours this morning to get the correct tools and a battery that would fit (correct battery is back ordered from Germany - 4 weeks).
I'm good to go, celebrated with a trip to the wine store.
4 and a bit months have dimmed my memory as to just how good this car is. Tactile, granular, pure and fast. Probably my favourite car ever.
Donavan and others contemplating selling, you may just want to reconsider.
Gawd, I love this car.

Nothing against the Spyder, I drive one, but the F-105 "Thud" is still a fantastic looking aircraft and faster than a speeding bullet on the deck. Interesting for the younger readers it was not designed for the role it did in Viet Nam but instead to sit alert in Europe with a special weapon in its belly. Thud pilots, a special breed and especially those that did the wild weasel mission.

Like a grown up version. Much faster, much better sound and shifter feel. If I had to choose, the latter version all the way. The only car that got the call more last summer was the 458 spider.

I've never been a convertible guy but the 981 Spyder is converting me (that and no longer living in a climate that's 90F+, 90% of the time). So when I go down the list of ultimate drop top drivers cars to own, I think 458 spider is near top of my list. We'll see after owning it for a few mos.
A manual 981 spyder and dct 458 spider........what else could I possibly need for weekend road toys? (not that I couldn't think of a few). 356 speedster probably on my convertible bucket list at some point but no hurry.
