I know these aren't the Spyder but I realized I forgot to take pix of the car during the show. Big show in Fountain Hills AZ yesterday. 700+ cars. Had the only Spyder there- kind of surprised. Mexico blau was a big hit as was the car itself... lots of interesting stuff- LOVE the new Ford GT, and have a soft spot for older British roadsters...

The Porsche Irvine dealership had their grand opening bash tonight, although the store has been open for some time now.
Two Spyders were on display -- bookend cars, really -- representing the primitive and the powerful.
First up, this 1955 550 RS Spyder (vin 550-0067) with original paint and matching engine. According to its owner, it was the Paris Show Car in 1955, judged "Most Significant Porsche" at Amelia Island in 2008, and one of several classic Porsches in the "Family Tree" commercial Porsche did back in 2009.
And then on the opposite end of the Spyder spectrum:
Some non-Spyder esoterica:
2012 Porsche 911 Carerra GTS B59 Edition. I believe this is car #3 of just five cars made by Porsche to celebrate Haley Haywood's five Daytona victories racing for Brumos.
And this 1967 912 soft window Targa (#74 of 540 soft windows made). The current owner told me this car's original color was Irish Green.
Last, but not least: The 2016 919 Hybrid Le Mans car (Car Number 1) driven by Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, and Mark Webber. Two-litre V4 turbocharged gasoline engine with two energy recovery systems (brake and exhaust energy). At Le Mans, this car was forced into the pits for a long repair during nightfall, clawed its way back and ended up 13th overall (fifth in LMP1 class). Seriously sinister.
Parting shot:

Local C&C in old Scottdale this AM- turn out smaller as many were at the Lit Meet in LA... you can barely see the Spyder over the roof of the 356 in the foreground... one guy was there with a replica of #1- had never seen one of those before. Interesting from a distance. Had the only Spyder there...
