Reuse the OEM pad. Just unvelcro the stock cover from the pad, Velcro the custom new cover onto the pad, and store the stock one in a box.

I think I had a how-to post somewhere back in the early days when I started this thread but ugh.. trying to find it would be hellish

Default Seat inserts for my 987 Spyder

I went a little over in terms of variety, in addition to the stock alcantara inserts I had Rodger Pisani at Creative Auto Interiors of Butler NJ make:

* tartan
* black/white hounds tooth
* black/red/white hounds tooth
* black/white pascha

These are not just covers but full core foam inserts wrapped in the different fabrics swap in and out in seconds ...

In looking back at the different places I ordered from, it seems that the correct amount is 4 meters, I have lots of left over Pepita in both color sets and will be using that fabric for inserts for the 981 Spyder...

That is really good work.. that tartan is exactly what I had in mind for my GT3. What kind of foam padding did you find?.. my upholsterer at the time couldn't source any, so we just made covers... your solution seems even better

Rodger Pisani at Creative Auto Interiors sourced the foam cores for each set, he compared it against the OEM and it has the same density as the OEM and is cut and hand carved to fit. He showed it to me before he proceeded to ensure I was pleased with what was being used for the core.

I will be going back to him for the 981 inserts

You just made him a sale. GT3 coming in March but I'm already prepping the mod supplier list

1Buck- did you search the fabric or have Creative do the whole thing? I found them on the web but would be doing this long distance from AZ. I suppose a local place could do it here, but his stuff looks pretty nice!

Very nice! How much did the b/r/w hounds tooth set you back?

Default fabric sourcing

@skl... I sourced the fabrics and provided it to Creative Auto ...

if you would like a fabric sample I have both available for the houndstooth by the time I ordered the other fabrics it was clear I over ordered and I believe I have enough left over for a sets for the 981 Spyder

Fabric sources were:

Lakewell for Pascha and Tartan company is in Belgium

Classic FX for the two different hounds tooth company is in UK

Links below

Creative Auto ... firm that made the inserts

Default seat insert pricing

@dalema ... on pricing I will double check but I recall it being about $1,800 per set plus the fabric so maybe $2,100 per set

@milehigh981 I really like the pascha too. When I first received the fabric and laid it out it was overwhelming...but it comes together very nicely in the car...it's what I have in there right now.
