I just did a price check on some leather cover replacements as mine was subject to some excessive wear being a PCNA Auto Show Car. As one would expect, They aren't cheap!
997 521 388 00 - 8YR cover, outer part, Upper Backrest (2 needed)
$1151.63 each!
997 521 383 00 - 8YR cover lateral outer (LEFT)
$245.42
997 521 384 00 - 8YR cover lateral inner (LEFT)
$245.42
997 521 385 00 - 8YR cover lateral inner (RIGHT)
$245.42
997 521 386 00 - 8YR cover lateral outer (RIGHT)
$245.42
Total Leather (not including Alcantara) = $3284.94!
I'm debating if it's just not cheaper to buy complete new seats ($6795 @ Suncaost) and swapping the Alcantara and selling the Originals.
The seats aren't Horrible, I'm just ****!

show us a picture of the wear. If it's minimal you could probably get good money for the seats from someone who doesn't care about the wear. That would minimize the cost of you getting brand new ones (too bad you didn't get the second of seats I got last year
... they did end up going to another rennlister though,
.... who sold them a few months later
.... to another rennlister
....I still have mine).

I'll take some photos when I get home from work in a few minutes. My issue is the stitching is starting to fray. Keep in mind I'm ****!

You need to think loong and hard if you are really going to keep this car or not. You will be wasting a ton of time and money fixing a 'small' issue if you are just going to sell the car when the new cayman comes out. Just trying to be the voice of reason here...
Then again, if you don't fix this issue I can see it being the catalyst for you selling the car.... you can't win here.... My sport seats were driving me nuts even though there was nothing wrong with them. I had to have the sport buckets and everything was 'right' after I got them in. Not quite the same issue here, but everyone has a different threshold on what they are willing to accept...

When you get the seats repaired you might consider contacting the following Rennlister to see if he will make you a set of these: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...rotectors.html
My seats still look new and I don't cringe when a passenger gets in the car.

You have to change how you get in and out of the seats. Avoid the side bolsters and support your weight with your arms.

I completely avoid the side bolsters. In fact, the way I get into and out of the car is by placing my hand on the sill and using my arm to lift myself into/out of the seat. Avoiding all contact with the side bolsters. I am very careful about this as well.
I dunno. I blame it on the design and prolly the thermal stress on the leather. I was wondering if others have the same problem. Obviously not.
Because i don't make contact with the side bolsters, the covering of the stitching does nothing for me.

As far as my Spyder, I have to run out to a couple of stores (e.g. broke my T-30 bit while working on the S) but will post pics later! About time, since I picked it up LAST Friday night!

Option 1 = Have a leather guy attempt to repair. I am hesitant as the stitching is frayed and repair around the stitching will be difficult.
Price TBD, but cheapest option
Option 2 = Replace both Upper's and Outer Bolsters and leaving the existing Inner Bolsters as there is no damage. This option takes more time as Porsche does these as Build to Order. Plus I'm not 100% sure how easy it is to replace the leather and how it will look (possible color mis-match?)
Price: $2,800
Option 3 = Buy brand new Tequipment Leather Sport Buckets Seats (Same as current with leather center cushions) swap the middle cushions (Leather for Alcantara) and sell current Sport Buckets Seats to offset cost.
$6,800 delivered and available from USA Porsche warehouse, so timing wise will be here within a week. Not sure what I could sell my current ones for. Sunset Porsche is having there Part's Swap Meet next weekend and I could possibly sell them there?
I'm leaning towards Option 3.
