Thanks.
Pros:
-Exhaust Note - OMG the sound!
-3.8 - Love that NA horsepower
-Suspension - IMHO perfect.
-Steering - yeah... No direct feel like the hydraulic, but I still love it.
-PTS - Finally the color I always wanted... I constantly look for excuses to go in the garage just to get a peak at it.
-PCCBs... Really love them.
-Handling... So balanced
Cons (very little, but if I had to list any minor things):
-Roof (miss the simplicity of the 987.2... Wish I could run it with the back open). Hate the closing procedure having to have the key in the ignition and pushing the button... Seems simple, but annoying.
-Wind Turbulence... It has more than the 987.2
-Blind Spots are worse on the 981... Backup camera is a must.
-Back up camera... My Rubicon X has a better camera resolution... Which is SAD!
Honestly the 987.2 and 981 are too different animals. If I could, I would own both. You got to love the raw simplicity of the original... Truly special... But at the same time if I could only own one? 981 hands down... It is the best of all worlds.
I think being able to customize my Spyder exactly how I wanted with PTS and more made a huge difference personally. It is almost like the car is a part of me. Working directly with Melissa Witek at PCNA communicating on the regular basis throughout the whole process was awesome.

Beautiful in all respects. The color is sublime and is perfectly set off by the wheels and brakes.

Burning Brakes
Looks stunning. That 'part of me' feeling is one of the reasons I've just bought a Spyder too. I love my 991 GTS, but I never feel that I 'become' the car in the way I did with my 987.2. Something about the mid-engined setup I think.
Also, does anyone know if the backup camera can be retrofitted? My incoming one has no parking assistance whatsoever!

Great looking Spyder. Congrats!
With th exception of having to levitate in and out of the LWBS twice to close the damn roof on the 981 Spyder, I couldn't disagree with you more about that roof compared to the 987 Spyder as the roof on the 987 Spyder was a deal breaker for me. Sure it's a multi piece so you could run with the just the fabric sunshade but for me thats something I would never do. why dilute the open top experience with a Canopy. The sun, moon, stars and sky are every bit as important as the wind to me. It's what makes a convertible so compelling. That multi piece 987 top is cumbersome complicated and provides minimal untility for those days when you would never want to lower the top.
I agree the blind spots are an issue in the 981 Spyder but unfortunately a backup camera won't do much when you are merging and trying to see who's coming around to the right or left of you. Parking is not an issue. I never had a backup camera I'm just careful. I've actually had more issues going forward than reverse in my 981S when parking and I'm finding the same with my Spyder
Anyway, welcome to the 981 Spyder club. These are marvelous, marvelous cars. And Congrats again on a great PTS, LWBS, PCCB build. The platinum stitching looks great but I'm partial.

I'm personally more interested in blind spot monitoring as merging in certain instances is quite tricky.
