Default BGB Roll/Harness Bar fab and Install 2014 Cayman S

Just had what may be the first roll/harness bar for the 2014 Cayman fabricated and installed by BGB Motorsports, in Daytona, Fl. Turned out great, so I thought I would share. I am very pleased. Tight tolerances and it looks like it was installed from the factory. I also installed a GT2 Porsche OEM seat and there is lots of room behind the backrest. The passenger seat allows plenty of room as well. John Tecce and the guys a BGB are great to work with. Enthusiast all. John and his folks have helped me get my new Cayman track ready, with fabspeed headers and exhaust, wheels, tires, wheel studs, and of course the roll bar and Schroth harnesses. Did an AutoX today and hit the track at Sebring this coming weekend. I feel a lot more confident having a proven race oriented shop helping make me my car car right.

Nice! What did you do with the airbag light? I've heard that these seats aren't compatible with the new 981s and 991s

Light stays on, but that's it. Not a bother, at least to me. The rest of the air bags except, for those in the drivers seat work according to my dealer. I wanted to have a 6 point harness and considered that until recently most seats didn't have an air bag in any event.

Can't you use a durametric to get rid of the airbag light?

Yes on most of the cars up to and including the 987.2 and 997.2 and Cayenne and Panamera that are NOT 981/991 based. It's only a matter of time though. They are sharp guys there. Anyone use the software from Palmer? Its is really good. And you can log from your cell phone.

Thumbs up

That BGB bolt in roll bar looks spectacular. Tight to the roof and headliner with a well thought out super clean design.

Yes. No issues with anything electronic. Just the light on the instrument cluster light stays on,and seat airbag does not work.

I had considered buying just 1 GT2 seat so that I could have one for myself and my wife could have the regular sports seat and be able to recline it... Glad to see someone else has gone and done that before me.

Thanks, and good luck. They are hard to find now. In fact I could only find the one, and according to them at the time, the only one available from Suncoast Porsche. As long as you are a solo driver you are good to go. If you want to take an instructor, according to PCA rules you have to have similar restraints, but not the exact same seats, so that means you have to both wear the 3 points. Not a problem because Porsche OEM GT2 seats came stock with a 3 point system.

Car looks awesome. Show some more pictures. Did you have to do any fabricating to get the GT2 seat to line up with the drivers side stock floor mounting bolts ?
