Default Sapphire Blue Metallic

Showed up on the Configurator over the weekend. Does anyone know if this is a new color or a redo of a previous Porsche color?
After 4 911s, I'm thinking of ordering a Boxster. I drove 2 today (base and S) and was very impressed with both configurations.
I'm thinking of this color/black/black but would like to see what it actually looks like. Anyone able to help?
My other choices are dark blue/black/black and basalt/black/black at this point. The cars I drove were racing yellow NO! And Guards Red NO! They had a beautiful Mahogany/brown/espresso but I'm not springing for full leather in a Boxster. Agate is nice, too, but there are a bunch out there.
Anyone?
Thanks...

Keadog,

It's a new color (also added Rhodium Silver vice Platinum Silver), showed up last week along with a $1200 price increase.
Hard to say what it will look like but probably very close to the current Aqua Blue (a very stunning color).
Imagine it will be a few months before you can see one in person.
Take a chance and go for it!

cheers,
Steve

Aqua blue is a little too out there for me - I was hoping for something a little more subtle. Nt sure I can blindly bet $70k I'll like it. But thanks.

The color is fairly dark when the sun isn't shining on it. When the sun is shining, it is fairly bright, but not gaudy.

Sure hope this wasn't a condescending statement ("just" a Boxster). I'm hoping you meant that you don't want full leather being exposed to all the sun in a cabriolet.

BTW, Aqua Blue is indeed a stunning color. Love it. Wish I could have a 2nd Spyder in ABM.

Not condescending in any way. I was totally impressed with both the base and S. I had never driven a Boxster before, but the review on the 6 speed base in this month's Panorama convinced me to try one. The 6 speed is buttery smooth and exactly where I put my hand.
My point was that I wouldn't pay almost 10% of the base price extra for more leather when the "base"seats were fabulous and the cockpit felt quite refined for a roadster.

Yeah, but you're right up the road from me. You sure you want another one riding around town?

Are you located near me?

I know of a guy a few miles away who has one EXACTLY like mine, although he may have sold it late last year.

Our dealer placed our 981 order yesterday. Apparently even though Sapphire Blue is in the configurator it is a 2014 color. We had to go with Aqua for our April build (which will be delivered on June 13). I looked at the Aqua sample and liked it - seems very similar to the 987 Cobalt Blue color we had.

Looks like I'll play it safe with black. Thanks for all the help. To further prove I was not being codescending in any way about the 981S, today I upgraded the build to Black/Black top/Espresso natural leather interior, even though it irks me that the up charge ($1510), is the same for the 981 as the 991, which has two more seats to cover.
I think the build locks Monday, but I'll be going over it again with the dealer tomorrow...

Default Sapphire Blue Metallic!

Per recent post on the old 'Custom Ordering' thread:

"For those wondering how the new 'Sapphire Blue Metallic' (new color replacing 'Aqua Blue Metallic' in the standard line-up!) looks, here are the first photos I have seen of it! Comes from a European site called Auto Gestop and was found by Macca over in the 991 gt3 forum. Much lighter than 'Aqua' and less 'purple' than the older (and quite popular) Cobalt Blue Metallic (last photo)!"

Saludos,
Eduardo

Ugh... not happy about ABM being replaced.
