Default 981 wind deflector

Last week I had my truck in for service and I was given the keys to their 981 S that had just come in. I briefly had the top down (checking how it works) as the weather was not great. I noticed that the wind deflector is now a mesh similar to what is inserted in the head rests. I thought the visibility was considerably diminished compared to the clear plastic that is in my 09. What do present owners think? Is the clear plastic still offered? I could not find anything on the configurator showing or talking about the deflector. Why was the clear panel eliminated? Can't ever remember hearing complaints on this item.

If it ain't broke, why fix it?

The mesh deflector iis the only option, there is no clear plastic one offered.

I have used my 981 for a while now and I don't think it's any problem. It's like looking through a tinted window instead of a clear one. After getting used to it, it doesn't annoy me at all.

Solution: don't use the wind deflector (I don't).

I use and like the deflector. Wonder if the old model will fit the new model?

I seriously doubt that...

I can't tell for sure, but my impression is that the 981 wind deflector is lower in height than the 987 one.

981 wind deflector is much smaller than 987 too.

I've had the wind deflector in and out, and in terms of reducing turbulence it doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference either way.

I believe it is supposed to be used in conjunction with both windows all the way up (why I never use mine). If you don't notice any difference with both windows up, then it doesn't sound like the deflector is doing a very good job.

I always drive with the passenger's side window up, and the driver's side window down. This dramatically reduces wind turbulence.

I can only guess the reason to change to this type of deflector was it is cheaper.
