Awesome pictures, love both of those blue's! Is that a red Turbo S 964 I see in the background? Rare bird if it is!
I'm shocked at how few attended this years concours. The field is extremely sparse!
Maybe next time they'll pick a location that is a little more convenient to where the general population of owners are.

Afshin,
in response to your query on judging, I scored 233.2 raw out of 235
I was in class PP03 Touring so I did not get scored on chassis (front 30 points and rear 35 points)
I thought the judging was extremely fair, almost generous although Eduardo may disagree (but he was in an entirely different group)
my deductions were .6 for exterior and .8 for interior and .2 for engine and .2 for wheels and storage compartments
an example, on the body under the "humps" there are several spaces
two of mine were clean but two were "forgotten" so when the judge reached in there, he found dust
my clear bra had several brown spots right behind the front wheels, I was going to remove the clear bra entirely but decided against it
probably from road tar that discolored the clear bra but I tried multiple different cleaners to no avail
also, I discovered a "crack" on the rt rear tailight, not sure if it's a crack or a defect but interesting because I was looking at another Boxster and saw the exact same thing, anyway I got a deduction
got a .1 deduction for "light dust" in battery compartment
also, for dust in left front wheel, brake caliper
there are only 3 Spyders here, one black one with stripes, and a black one without, I spoke to Gary and he said he traded his Turbo in on the Spyder, awesome car but we already know that
next time I will remove the clear bra so I don't have obvious stains but I'm still an absolute believer in having a clear bra, it just doesn't show as well, especially for a car like mine that is driven frequently in a variety of "situations"
I took a rock right in the middle of the hood and had to have the clear bra redone right before I left, fortunately the clear bra took the damage and not the paint
and I could go on....

A Conversation About Spyders with Dr. Wolfgang Porsche!
I want to thank all that have posted your well wishes since my Targa received the 'Judges' Choice' at this year's Parade from the Porsche family.
I talked to Dr. Wolfgang Porsche on Wednesday morning at the Parade Auto-Cross held at the Maverik Center, the next morning after the Concours Banquet. I thanked him for selecting my 'Crystal Blue' 1970 911E Targa for this special recognition from among all of the Concours entrants at the Parade. Surprisingly, he asked me if I owned any other Porsches. I responded that I had recently custom-ordered a '12 Spyder and taken delivery last year. He cracked a big smiled and enthusiastically responded that 'he too' has a 'Spyder'! The warm & authentic smile and the quickness of his response left no doubt as to how highly Dr. Porsche personally thought of our beloved Spyder model! And he was careful to say 'HAVE', not 'HAD' - so it's something he still owns and enjoys! He then asked me what color was mine? I responded 'Aqua Blue/ Carrera Red' and he said he had never seen one in that color. I believe he then added something to the effect that his Spyder is 'Carrara White'. The real odd part of it all is that for a moment I felt like I was talking to just another happy & satisfied Spyder customer, something that we Spyder owners commonly experience when we meet. But it just happens that this particular Spyder owner has 'Porsche' as his last name and is now the titular head of that famous family!
A Porsche AG employee at his side (Paul Gregor) suggested then a photo of me with Dr. Porsche using his camera! After the picture, this gentleman gave me his business card so that I could contact him & he could forward the photo 'memento' with Dr. Porsche to my email address. Interestingly, one of the most valuable photos in my collection was taken of me back in 1981 while engaging in conversation with BOTH Ferry Porsche and his wife Dorothea (Wolfgang's parents) at a cocktail party hosted by Porsche for participants of the PCA Treffen in Stuttgart that year! So Wednesday's photo-op and conversation with Wolfgang Porsche about our respective Spyders will be something that I will safeguard and cherish forever!
Soon after that conversation, the family departed the auto-cross site and left for the airport. By the way, Ferdinand Porsche (Wolfgang's 19 year old son) participated in the auto-cross driving a 991S Cabriolet and actually posted some pretty decent times before he left!
Saludos,

Eduardo thank you for posting your experience.
So have you changed your mind about keeping the Spyder or are you still contemplating selling it?
I look forward to attending one of these events in the future, I need to make it a point to set the time aside and go.

To all: I want to introduce you to some faces behind our cars. On the left is Steve (JSF101), the proud owner of the only PTS 'Speed Yellow' '12 Spyder that we believe was made! He has been at the Parade all week and competed in many events! He is from Texas'PCA 'Longhorn' Region. On the right is 'Polarporsche', a frequent RL poster on this forum. He hails from Edmonton, Alberta! He has an '11 Spyder (black) back home and keeps his 2001 996 Cup Car at Miller Motorsports Park with a local team of mechanics. He commutes back & forth to Canada and keeps up a regular attendance at club racing events at Western US tracks. Although his 2001 911 Cup Car was displayed at the Parade Concours on Monday, 'Polarporche' was only able to make it to the Miller track day on Saturday. This 'Drivers' Ed' was an 'extra-curricular' activity for the PCA Parade and not an official function!
Finally: Some news about future PCA Parades. It is commonly known that next year's PCA Parade will be held on the last week of June (2013) in Traverse City, Michigan! What is 'news' is that it was just announced at the final 'Victory Banquet' tonight that the 2014 PCA Parade will be held in Monterey , California at the Hyatt Regency. This is just a few miles from my home in nearby Carmel! So I look forward to seeing many of you at that event! Start planning for it now.

Eduardo
Last night of Parade Week at Salt Lake City!
Heading to Carmel tomorrow.

Eduardo,
Really nice to meet up with you and Steve at the PCA DE event at Miller this past weekend. Steve's Spyder looks even better in person, you both have very beautiful Spyder's.
We packed up after lunch since it was starting to storm and hit the road, It's a 16 hours drive back to Edmonton. I towed my Cup Car home to participate in the support race at the Edmonton Indy next weekend, hopefully I'll be back at Miller in Sept.
Great Pictures, thanks.
Cheers

Here are some additional photos of 987's at the Parade in Utah! The last two are of a metallic dark green Boxster with a red interior!
I drove the 1970 911E Targa to Reno on Sunday and from Reno to Carmel on Monday. I will be shortly going to the airport to get back to Vail today. I return to Carmel on August 1st to get ready for the Historics, Concorso Italiano, Legends of the Autobahn and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance shortly after my arrival back here!
I got a pm today from f4 plt (who has an Aqua Spyder in Texas). He was at the Parade all week and I dealt with him on a regular basis since he is Mr. Volunteer at these Parades (concours, autoX grid master, etc). But I never knew until today that he is the famouns 'f4 plt'. He didn't bring his Spyder to the Parade and I had no clue of his real name. Thanks for your kind note Jack!
