I guess most competent shops with PIWIS can do this? Thank you.
Based off feedback on my other PIWIS threads it seems pretty hit or miss if shops are willing to play with engineering mode. Most of the service/maintenance coding is done in aftersales mode which is what shops are familiar with. My recommendation is to buy your own PIWIS 2 clone (~500USD). There are tons of things you can do with it and it'll pay for itself pretty quickly. Honestly the rear wing coding is one of the less interesting things you can code with PIWIS (see my GT3 steering software & PTV activation threads). You can also sell your PIWIS 2 clone and recoup most of what you paid if you end up not using it much after you're done coding.

Here is a ducktail spoiler set to 300 steps. I didn't enable any Sport Plus or Sport specific settings, just changed the Spoiler-Parameter values from 360 to 300.

I wanted to change the deployment speed to 138kph (86mph), but I couldn't save those values to the module. The PIWIS gave me an alert symbol. Any ideas why?

It's been awhile so I don't remember exactly. But I do recall having to recycle the ignition a couple times for some of the values to save properly.

Just went back and 140kph worked. Perhaps only increments of 10 or 5 are valid?

Anyways, here is the difference between 300 steps and 240 steps.

At 300 steps, the spoiler is already begining to tilt forward and that makes the ducktail too tall. 240 seemed like the sweet spot.

Yes, definitely better looking at 240. If I ever get one I think I'll leave it down at all times.

This is my personal preference too.

I've actually tried two different ducktails already, and I'm in the middle of trying a third one.

1. Direct Car Toys
fitment: 1/5

I can't recommend this one. The brackets were handmade out of fiberglass with lots of filler. They were not symetrical and wobbled. The driver's side bracket didn't have enough adjustment. Even after using a dremel to add adjustability, the spoiler rubbed against the trunk.

2. Ebay Spoiler (2-Piece design)
fitment: 3/5

This is a good option for the price. My only complaints are:
  • The gap between the spoiler and the bumper is not right. It's too close in the center and too far away at the edges.
  • The bevel on the top edge is not the same as the OEM spyder ducktail. It makes the spoiler look too angular.

Note the difference in shape, especially the bevel on top.

3. OEM Ducktail + Schnell Autosports Brackets
fitment: unknown

This looks promising. The brackets are machined out of metal and you use the OEM ducktail.
I can't comment on fitment yet. I'm waiting to order the ducktail when I get back from a long trip.

Thank you for the detailed response. I looked forward to hearing about the third option.

What's a dealer charge to make these changes or are they even willing to do it? I'm about to pull the fuse on mine I guess but would much rather keep it lower or increase the speed (or both).
Located in north Alabama if anybody close by can assist!

Dealer told me it would be one hour shop time, which is $245 there.

Just note that pulling the fuse can be annoying as well. There is a hall sensor on the wing mechanism, so the car will start throwing errors with a chime once you pass through the set deployment speed more than one time and the car doesnt see the wing moving like it should.

You will then get a dash chime/error every time you pass back through that speed again. This can be really annoying on the highway, since the typical cruising speed places you right there in that 70-75 mph zone where you will be constantly passing back and forth through the deployment threshold while flowing with traffic, and causing the chime over and over again

I was able to do this on my 2014 991.1 Carrera S with a PIWIS 2 clone. Results were great! Before photo shows the stock height with Sport Design or GTS front Bumper (I had it coded in at an Indy previously) of 340 steps. After photo shows a maximum height of 381 steps. I tried going to 400 steps but PIWIS didn’t let me. The stock bumper spoiler height without the Sport lip or the Sport Design front bumper would be 282 steps if I’m not wrong. I’m also just curious if anyone was able to code to a higher preset or is 381 steps the highest setting for the 991.1 platform. I saw on another thread that the 991.2s can go up to 800 steps, but I guess that’s just a different spoiler design I’m not too sure. Anybody with more information on this is gladly welcomed!
