It shouldn't be a big deal to ask if your indy has a PIWIS set up. My indy told me he found this thread and installed the GT3 calibration on another client's car already.

You can run it with any modern windows laptop if you install a virtual machine. Takes about an hour to set up if you've never done it before.
I'm still playing with the simulator. I've loaded the Oracle VM Virtual Box manager, Oracle VM Virtual Box extension pack, and PIWIS VM. I get it boogered up when I try to change to "E" engineering mode. Any clue how to remedy that?

Thought I’d write a step-by-step for people new to PIWIS or for those wanting their indys to take a crack at coding the new steering calibration. Disclaimer: I did see that someone was able to code the calibration in aftersales mode but this is just how I did it personally:

1. Switch to engineering mode. This video shows how to do this at 7:40 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ture=emb_title)
2. Press “Overview”. This should pull up a list of all the modules in your car.
3. Highlight the EPS module and press “Codierung Anpassungen”
4. Highlight “Manuelle Codierung ohne MCR Regeln (Entwicklung)” then “Next”
5. Highlight “Kodierwert: Codierung Fahrzeugklassen” then “Next”
6. Select “GT3” in the dropdown menu then press “Schreiben” to code in the new calibration
7. I personally exited all the way out and then back into the steering calibration menu to make sure the coding still read “GT3” but obviously this is optional

ADDITIONAL STEPS NEEDED FOR 991.1 CODING (not applicable to our 981 cars but posting for completeness-sake):

1. Back to “Overview”
2. Highlight “Kombiinstrument” then press “Codierung Anpassungen”
3. Highlight “Manuelle Codierung ohne MCR Regeln (Entwicklung)” then “Next”
4. Highlight “Warnungskonfiguration: Warnungen EPS Lenkhilfe Ausfallwarnung (120)” & “Warnungskonfiguration: Warnungen EPS Lenkhilfe Fehlerwarnung (121)” then “Next”
5. Use dropdown menu and change both to “nicht aktiv” and then press “Schreiben”

Just guessing, but I would bet that the GT3 steering program is taking into account the wider, lower profile and stickier tires that comes on the GT3 vs a 981. That maybe a reason for the lighter feel. If you prefer that, great. But on my Mustang GT with the 3 choices of steering feel, I prefer sport mode vs comfort. Though I have to admit, after a few trips up and down Deals Gap in the Boxster, my shoulders were sore the next day.

tell them if it’s successful others will want to do it and they can make money. You find an Indy in NJ that can do it, please share.

And this is 100% reversible if you decide you don't like it...?

I had power steering plus. The GT3 calibration overrides it so that it's no longer active.

quick question. it has calibration for 981 and gt3, but not the gt4. is that to say the gt4 is calibrated with the 981 programing or the gt3 programing since the gt4 has gt3 front suspension ?

I haven't had the chance to hook up my PIWIS to a GT4. But I'm assuming since the GT4 was also developed by the GT department and was produced after the 991.1 GT3, it would have some form of the calibration found in the GT3.

Why do you believe the GT3 steering calibration choice overrides power steering plus?

It's very apparent the extra boosted assistance at parking lot speeds is no longer there.
