Cars and coding session in Los Angeles was a success.

Yosemite wasn't half bad either.

Has anyone figured out a place in Houston to get this done?

I didn't attribute it to that at first because it wasn't immediately noticeable. It only happens from approximately 45-55mph with the steering wheel centered and is most prominent at 50mph. When I first noticed it, I thought maybe I lost a wheel weight, but I had them rebalanced and it didn't fix it. I lived with it for a while thinking maybe one of the front wheels was slightly bent, but it persisted even after replacing all 4 wheels and tires. I even got an alignment which of course also didn't fix it.

Out of ideas, I switched the calibration back to standard and low and behold, problem solved. The only thing I can think of is that the on-center feel with the GT3 calibration is simultaneously lighter and has over-boosted feedback. By that I mean there's less resistance to turning the wheel on center, but at the same time exaggerated road feel and feedback. It might be that while the EPS unit is the same, the different suspension/steering geometry of the Cayman causes a sort of feedback loop introducing an on-center oscillation at certain speeds.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else also has this issue. Not sure if it's a problem with my car, if others just haven't noticed (as I didn't at first), or if I'm just more sensitive to it.
I removed the GT3 coding from my car and went back to the original setting with power steering plus.
For me, the steering became heavier with the GT3 setting.

I noticed it when driving my 718 GTS 4.0 (no power steering plus option) back to back with my 981 GTS with the GT3 setting. The 981 with GT3 setting felt like a tank when coming from the 718.
With the original setting, the steering feel of my 981 is better and closer to the 718. Both cars have 20" wheels, Pirelli P zero's, PASM -10 mm and PTV.

The 981 has the thicker rear X73 sway bar, and turns in very well.
The 718 is more composed (no other word to describe it).

The biggest difference for me is the extra torque in the lower RPM and the nicer steering wheel with more direcly acting gear paddles of the 718 (both cars are PDK).
But soundwise, the 981 is a peach...

This is of course my opinion. I don't track the cars, only street driving. And unfortunately whe don't have carving canyons over here....

Default 981 coded

Hi,
recently bought a 981 cgts and after reading this thread I convinced my Indi to try and do the PTV and switch to EPS GT3 mode.
I have to thank you very much, the car now feels more the way a Porsche should feel pointy, quick and planted.
I love it!
Thanks to all for your detailed info and explanations.
They are in Dubai if anyone is interested in doing the coding my Indi is happy to do it.
Project 11, call and ask for Chris.

Hey folks.

Newbie here - I've been lurking for a few months, but now's the time to turn up in person.

Encouraged by this thread I have recently coded the GT3 map on my 2015 Boxster GTS. First impressions are largely familiar to those who've already done the same. Whether I'll choose to keep it depends on how I get on with it down the UK's twisty B roads and back lanes.

I made a YT video about the EPS, and recorded my first impressions driving the car after the switch:

Thanks to @nhnguy12 for spotting that video, and for all the work he's done to get us here. Appreciated.

While I'm here...

Does anybody have any experience of running the GT3 and the GT3 RS maps back to back? I'd welcome a comparison if so... Ta.

Welcome! Your video reignited my curiosity of the other maps. I have pending plans to test out the GT4 and GT3RS maps on my buddy's 981 GTS probably in the next couple weeks.

GT3 RS wins hands down from those 2 variants, or all of them for that matter

I'm hoping my car is 'new' enough to have the GT3 RS map available. It'll be a month or two before I'm able to get back to the indy, so I am going to have to cross my fingers and hope in the meantime...

Having done about 10 cars. It is random. Not everyone has all the GT3 calibrations.

Aaaah. How very un-German to be so random! Oh well, I shall have to wait and see... Thanks for the intel. nonetheless.
