Default INDY in NEW ENGLAND

Bringing my '14 Cyman S out of storage, purchased it in January. I'd like to have a list of good, well respected (by Reenlist Enthusiasts and/or PCA Members) Independent Shops in NE from Manchester south thru Boston and down to Hartford, CT. I'm looking to have Plugs/Coils changed, PDK Clutch &Tranny Fluid Changed, Drive Belt and Water Pump Replaced. I checked with some of the dealers, it seems they quote these tasks using their Shop Estimating Tool all starting from ground zero even if they've already gained access for another task, no grouping what-so-ever. Since joining Reenlist everyone always says; "If you're beyond Warranty find a good talented shop with the right testing tools (PIWIS), etc., I'm trying. Hopefully their estimates would be cost effective without the overhead of a dealership.

Go on the PCA Northeast region website and look at the shops who are sponsors.

Porsche Nashua is not bad for a P dealership as far as pricing, and they have great service advisors who, most likely, will be reasonable with you about “grouping”, based on my experience (ask for Mark). And there is Zacks in Hudson who worked on my Audi and I was happy with. They do Porsches, but I always brought mine to Porsche Nashua so I can’t vouch for their P car expertise/equipment.

Yup, went to North Country Region - PCA (ncr-pca.org) "Support our Sponsors" , that link doesn't seem to be working

Yes, I'll check on Zacks European Auto Repair in Hudson, NH | Zaks Auto having the PIWIS when working on the PDK is important when doing those fluid changes. I'll reach ouit and see what they say, THANKS., APPRECIATE IT.

I've had good luck with Musante Motorsports, located in S Windsor, CT. They are truly Porsche specialists. https://musantemotorsports.com/

When I went to their shop the first time, they had two rows of Porsches parked inside the garage (overnight) and a row of bays to the right with cars on lifts and cars parked underneath. They park all the cars inside overnight, so they pack them in, but it's an impressive sight to see so many Porsches, old and new, all packed in there like that.

I found them by asking around here as well... they came well regarded by others. Chris knows these cars well, as do the mechanics. I had my first PPI done by them initially, and their report was far better written than the one from the local Porsche dealer (for the second one I was looking at). Since then, they did all the work for the car, including the Carvana covered repairs. Very happy with their work.

On some week/weekends, they race as well and provide race services to customers, too. So they are clearly very well respected and versed with these cars. I highly recommend them!

i haven't used Musante with the 981 yet but i did use them with my 986. I had them do Waterpump, Thermostat, coolant flush, oil change, underdrive pulley, belt, and front motor mount. They were the only shop of the half dozen or so i contacted that priced it out knowing what was related to each other. Every other place gave me ridiculous quotes that factored in the hours for each job individually with no synergies from any of the other jobs. I contacted another very well known "race shop" in southern CT and their "master tech" told me there was no time benefit when doing the water pump to adding the pulley and drive belt then quoted me 18hrs labor to complete the job!!!

Musante did great work and only charged me 4 or 5 hrs labor to do everything. A bit of a drive for me but would definitely use them again and they are a PCA sponsor.

dav9515, THANKs for the feedback, the Dealers I've contacted certainly use the separate quote model for tasks that could be grouped. I've reached out to Musante, I'm in the SW Corner of NH on the Vermont Border but certainly willing to drive several hours to experience quality skilled service that is cost sensitive to its customer base, no open checkbook here. Thanks for responding...........

Schwinn,

Thanks for your original feedback, I went with Musante. I took a trip down there to look at the shop and was impressed with their operation, they only use Porsche Parts, highly skilled techs. You mentioned "a row of bays to the right with cars on lifts and cars parked underneath", I didn't quite get the vision until I got there and opened the entrance door..... Holey _HIT ! (attached iPhone PICs) and they also have a back storage area..... almost every year and model. This is truly a Porsche focused facility, all the Porsche testing software. They have simple day drivers like my Cayman S in for normal Porsche specified maintenance and then many-many Big Boy Toys that are tracked on the weekends. Many Owners hit the NE Track circuit then Musante does maintenance & track prep & even storing them for the next event. I saw trailers coming in and gathering owner's cars. The shop is open for a person like me to walk through, no barrier walls, several engines on stands being overhauled, they also do IMS replacements. Anyway, sorry to ramble like this, this isn't a paid for advertisement, no kick-backs to me but nothing I've ever seen before. Very pleased with their work, I am willing to drive 1:30 for quality work at competitive rates.. I suggest anyone in the NE take a trip to see for yourself and talk to Chris the owner.

Couldn't have said it better myself... I'm a fan, of course, but it's nice to see that others see what a great place it is!

How many miles? Did you buy your own Bosch spark plugs or pay $25+/ea for the ones that say Porsche made by Bosch? Dropped my 2013 BS at my Indy for plug change. Did the easiest one on the passenger side and decided too much work and too hard without a lift.

Yes, don't have a lift plus had recent neck surgery so DIY was definitely out. I'm mechanically challenged so I stick to the oil change and air filters, I did replace an AOS on my 987v2 Boxster but anything other than that I farm it out.

At the time Musante performed my requested items (Plugs/Coils, Brake Flush, PDK & Final Drive Fluid + AT Oil Pan Replacement, Drive Belt, Thermostat, Water Pump & Coolant.) it had 54,424 miles. I checked the Carfax and some Service Records against the Porsche Maintenance schedule to identify which Items I wanted to be addressed,. As preventative maintenance I had the Water pump and Thermostat replaced with the Drive Belt.
