981's available in the wild..

I just looked at the window sticker - that's a very high spec car. I see why they are asking so much. The PDK is a non-starter for me, but for others it might be perfect.
How's the paint? Have you seen it in person? (fyi, my car had PPF and paint was absolutely perfect). My car also had brand new tires and came with an extended warranty which I took over. So if you don't have to spend $2k on tires, $2-5k on PPF and not a lot on shipping, then maybe this is "your" car. If you have to spend $10k more on top of purchase price, maybe not.
I'll say this: don't lose a great car for a few grand. That money is long since forgotten as you enjoy your new toy!

Do you mind sharing what makes this a high spec car? The added options seem to be common options for GTSs

For many, all the options are common and what make a GTS a GTS, but if you have been shopping long enough its actually quite common for people to not select the GTS interior options, 18-way sofas. premium package, and PDK. The white car much like mine has 18-19k in options. I see a lot of mid to upper 80k MSRP cars. Low to mid 90 and above MSRP are not the norm IMO.

I guess it's not crazy options, but the 18 way seats and PDK alone add $8k. Both items my car doesn't have, but I agree, not terribly uncommon. Still, it's up there in MRSP. But my dealer friend said the higher the spec, the easier it is to sell, but that options sell at a fraction of their purchase price. So everyone is looking for a bargain - except for the selling dealer in this case. lol

imo, although PDK adds to a build sheet cost, it shouldn’t be considered for resale value if looking at it simply by msrp. 6mt cars fetch more. So two cars optioned similarly aside from transmission, the 6mt will likely sell for more but the pdk build will probably be higher on paper.

On the topic of MSRPs, does anyone know how often the base MSRP changed on the GTS? I have an early build GTS with a base price of $67k. I swear the window sticker I’ve seen for every other GTS had a base MSRP in the mid-70s.
If you end up buying that car (or any other Cayman), lmk if you want a set of clear corner lights.

I'm trying to determine a fair price for the car. The dealer is asking for a $2,000 deposit before a PPI. I’d like to have a reasonable price in mind before making that deposit.

I'm in the market for a 981 S/GTS PDK. Found a GTS in SF at a Chevy dealership of all places, but it sold before I could arrange a PPI. Single owner, around 33k miles. I think they were asking $65k. Didn't have the GTS interior.
Found one nearby (L.A.) and I'm trying to schedule a PPI, but the seller hasn't been very responsive.
Looks as if price for a GTS w/ PTV/x73 is in the mid to high $60k.

They go very quickly, especially a GTS. I missed out on a very good one by about an hour. So when a great one popped up right by me a few months ago, I ran over, drove, then bought it on the spot! Car had 8k miles and not a mark on it and had PPF. I paid 72k and have been loving it ever since! (Brand new tires, extended warranty and no shipping helped me feel good about the price.)

There are some out there, but not geographically convenient, which makes the local one even more frustrating.
Seller says he's happy to have the car inspected, but when I try to schedule, he goes silent. It's happened twice, once during the auction and now after the auction has ended. Probably a red flag.
