Default Preparation for long drive

I decided to drive my car rather than ship it to my new home in another state. I will likely put about 1000 mikes on a 2015 981 GTS in 2 days. Is there anything you would do in preparation or add to oil or gas? Will almost all be highway miles.

What I'd do is take a few days vacation and find interesting back roads instead of the highway. These really aren't all that great to drive on high speed highways - my Cayenne is much better at that - but they are wonderful on back roads so that's the way I'd try to go.

I'm in more or less the same boat as you. Driving my 2014 981 CS ~3k miles over 6 days in a couple of weeks as I relocate to other side of the country. Getting an oil change 1k miles before schedule to prep for the journey. I'm also installing radiator grills (DIY) just to be safe.

I actually flew out to buy the car and drove it back ~1.5k miles. Car had recently had an oil change so no bother there either. Just did the paperwork with the seller and drove off. 1000 miles should be no concern at all.

Hopefully you had a PPI. No additives needed or recommended.
I would make sure oil was changed within last 5000 mi. and the usual things...proper fluid levels and tire condition and pressure. You might consider buying a can of the tire repair junk because the one in you car has probably expired, maybe a spare serpentine belt if yours has not been changed. About all I can think of.

Hey, and be sure to pinch yourself a few times/hr to congratulate yourself on a great car!
HAVE FUN

I’m in the middle of driving over 2,000 miles back home to OR after picking up my GTS in Dallas. I have a AAA membership for peace of mind, but other than that, put your multifunction display on Vehicle Info to monitor your vitals (oil temp/pressure, water temp, voltage). Buy an extra quart of oil to have on hand and check your oil level after every gas refill and you should be good to go. Enjoy the drive!

Snacks, water, phone charger, gas stations along the way (if you’re going through the boonies), tire pressure, sunglasses, and several good playlists. If your phone has a good camera then take pics to post on here.

Just did >800 km yesterday in my 06 CS. Checked all the fluids and tire pressures, connected Spotify, and hit the road. Not much else to do! Good luck and enjoy the drive.

if you don't have ppf, I would buy some cheap xpel and wrap your front bumper...doesn't need to be pretty and you can take it off when you get there. I've done multiple 1k mile+ trips in my 981 cayman and having ppf made me much more relaxed behind traffic (especially semis) at 75mph.

Get one of these so you don't have to stop.

It may be 1980’s but I can put on this bra in 5 minutes and when I take a long drive I know the front is protected from chips and bugs. I just make sure the cars clean before I put it on. I also installed DIY grills for the front and side intakes.

^That's horrible advice. Those bras are no longer used because they scratch against your paint...

Guys, OP's car already has 30k miles so a bit too late to PPF if it doesn't have it already...
