If you're concerned about prtecting your front end, buy a roll of track tape. You can get a roll for abot $25 and it is easy to install and remove. It will also help minimize cleaning the dead bugs off as well!
if you don't have ppf, I would buy some cheap xpel and wrap your front bumper...doesn't need to be pretty and you can take it off when you get there. I've done multiple 1k mile+ trips in my 981 cayman and having ppf made me much more relaxed behind traffic (especially semis) at 75mph.

I always keep a kit in the car that includes:
You can temporarily reconnect quite a few "wayward" car bits in a pinch with duct tape and zip ties. Consumes almost no space in either trunk.
I've also added one of these little Red Cross kits, tucks neatly behind the passenger seat. You never know, right?

For long road trips (multi-day), I add:
- roll of duct tape
- handful of long zip ties
- tire plug kit as mentioned above

For long road trips (multi-day), I add:
- extra device charging adapters / cables (phone, 12v lighter)
- one quart of my preferred oil of choice
- a neck pillow for passenger to use while sleeping
- optional - small assortment of hand tools
